You Can Pet the Plaguehound Dogs in Black Ops Cold War Zombies
One of the most trendy and popular questions in the video game industry is whether or not you can pet the dog in it. Many players are quick to ask this question as soon as they notice a little pupper in a game. Fortunately, it looks like you can pet the Cold War Zombies Plaguehounds after all.
You Can Pet the Dogs in Black Ops Cold War
Believe it or not, you can actually pet the dogs in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. This may be one of the last games that we expected to find where you could actually accomplish this tiny but noteworthy task and, lo and behold, you are actually able to.
It is worth keeping in mind, though, that dogs aren’t a huge part of the game so you are definitely limited in the areas in which you are able to pet those cute little doggies in the middle of the gameplay. In fact, the method of going about this task is actually surprisingly wild and niche.
You would think that maybe the dogs that you could pet in the latest Call of Duty game would be somewhere in the singleplayer campaign story since that is something that you alone control the speed in which you complete it but that isn’t actually the case.
And it is a similar situation for the online multiplayer as well. Though dogs have appeared in Call of Duty multiplayer games in the past, like the wave-based Modern Warfare modes that that sub-series has had before, there is only one place in which you can pet the dog that we know of currently: Zombies.
This Is Only Available in Zombies
The ability to pet the Cold War Zombies Plaguehounds is only something that you will find in that specific game mode and for those specific creatures. You will not be able to do this for any other dog that we know of or in any other game mode that is available.
This is unfortunate but it is a nice little Easter egg that we didn’t really know about until just recently, even after the release of the first season of Black Ops Cold War. It took time for the community to discover that this was even possible and it to catch popularity. But now that we know about it, it is possible for the entire community to check this out for themselves.
Keep in mind that you will need to play the Zombies game mode in order to accomplish it and it doesn’t matter if you are playing online with your friends, random strangers, or just offline by yourself on the single Zombies map that is available at this time: Die Maschine.
No matter how you go about it, just make sure that you are playing the normal Zombies game mode and not something like Dead Ops Arcade 3 that is also in the game. Furthermore, we have not been able to confirm whether or not you can do this in Onslaught, but given the steps necessary to accomplish it, you may not be able to do it there.
How to Pet the Cold War Zombies Plaguehounds
Here’s how you can pet the Cold War Zombies Plaguehounds. Once you have booted up your match of the wave-based mode, the first step that you need to do is make sure that you have a certain type of ammo available to you. There are several different ammo types but only one will allow you to pet the dog.
To do this, you will need to first turn on the power and get the Pack-a-Punch machine ready. These are simple tasks that you are told by the game to do from the start so that is pretty easy to accomplish. One of the neat features of the Pack-a-Punch machine is to change your ammo type.
Of the several options that are available, the one that we are looking for is the brain rot ammo type. This particular one is unique for allowing you to shoot it at the undead horde and actually turn them to your side for a period of time before they revert back to the enemy team.
This is typically somewhat useful for acquiring more allies, albeit temporarily, in the rounds as they get crazier. But in this particular case, it is also the key to unlocking the ability to pet the Cold War Zombies Plaguehounds.
The Plaguehounds are one of the special enemy types that you are able to fight in the latest iteration of the Treyarch Zombies experience in Black Ops Cold War. These undead puppers are trying to take you out and are fast and powerful. They will typically only show up in certain rounds of a Zombies match.
But you can turn them to your side so long as you have the brain rot ammo type equipped. Simply fire it off at one of them and they will become your temporary ally for a short period of time. While they are your ally, you are then able to pet the Cold War Zombies Plaguehounds.
There isn’t much time before they switch back on over to the evil side but, if you’re quick, you can approach the newfound undead canine companion and press the button that appears on the screen to interact with the dog and actually pet them while they are your friend still.
Better yet, petting the Cold War Zombies Plaguehounds will actually benefit you in the game itself. Doing so will grant you some points towards your score and experience at the end of the match, just for temporarily befriending them and showing some love to some undead doggies that apparently could use it.
