XSET’s Female CSGO Roster Is The World’s Best – Originem

by in CS:GO | Nov, 21st 2020

XSET’s goal of inclusivity continues with their announced recruitment of the world’s best female CSGO roster, Originem! It won’t be too shocking to us if we see “Originem is the best CSGO team” by the end of 2021 – regardless of gender. If you can name an all-female major, it’s safe to say Originem was there, dominating any squad they came up against. Ambush Invitational, Galaxy Raver Invitational, DreamHack Showdown Summer? They conquered.

The Goal: World’s Best, End of Statement

Who is a part of the XSET female CSGO roster though? Zainab ‘zAAz’ Turkie, Michaela ‘mimi’ Lintrup, Petra ‘Petra’ Stoker, Julia ‘juliano’ Kiran, and Anastasia ‘kr4sy’ Khlobystina make up this incredible squad. They already have experience playing together, being a squad since 2020. We have a feeling that they’ll continue to show what makes them a force to be reckoned with well into 2021.

zAAz spoke to Dexerto about not being happy with where they were just yet though:

“I’m not really satisfied yet because we have so much more to prove, and I feel like we will be able to do that together with XSET. We’re really looking forward to starting the journey.”

The goal is to be the best in the world, regardless of gender. XSET’s Originem roster wants to play against the best CSGO has to offer the world over. If anyone can, they can. It’s nice to see that more than ever, we’re seeing support for female CSGO tournaments.

This is a squad that believes in “iron sharpens iron”. Petra spoke about their goal as well:

“One of the biggest steps everyone is dreaming of is competing against males in tournaments. We have to work really hard to get there though,” Petra said. “[At DreamHack Rotterdam], we went to compete against the male squads. We had some good games, but we didn’t win anything. If you play against the best, you’ll get better.”

That’s an important way to look at competition and growth. It’s been said forever that if you want to grow and get better, you have to play against people that are better than you. People and teams that have greater experience. You have to take those losses, learn from them, and adapt.

Welcome to America

XSET’s CSGO roster is moving to America as well to maximize their potential and possibilities for tournament play as an all-star female team. There’s a lot of good that can come out of this recruitment, and not just for the squad to make serious money. It’s a hard road for women in esports, and it doesn’t have to be.

The XSET girls could show the next generation of esports players, of any genre, that women belong, and are just as good as the guys. There are a lot of girls who look up to squads like Cloud 9 White and Originem, so it’s a fantastic way to show just what women can do in CSGO.

XSET’s Co-Founder, Marco Mereu spoke about this move as well:

“We’ve been working on this for a long time behind the scenes. CS:GO is obviously still a Tier 1 esport and we were looking at getting into the space. We had a look at the team and realized these were very talented players that had been playing together for a long time. It was an opportunity to work with a top team that was all-female, and that really fit into what we’re all about.”

We’re incredibly excited for XSET’s continued devotion to inclusivity in esports. Originem is well known throughout Europe, but now’s a chance to bring their skills to life in an all-new arena. What awaits Originem now that they’ve signed with XSET? We don’t know, the sky is the limit! It would be awesome to see more of the all-female teams duking it out with the male teams, regardless of the tier they’re at.

Kr4sy spoke about just that, how they could get results in some of the male tournaments:

“We were pretty excited with this lineup when Mimi came, so we have a lot more to prove. We are way stronger as a team now than we were. We hope to get more results in the male tournaments and to prove that we are a better team and that we can compete with the male teams — maybe not like Tier 1, but Tier 2 and 3.”

It’s a good day for women in esports. Kudos to XSET for having a mission statement, and standing by it 100%. No matter what awaits this team as they come to America, it’s certainly going to be exciting to watch. Esports is for everyone.
