Warzone XM4 “Pay-to-Win” Could Be a Slippery Slope
The XM4 blueprint for Warzone isn’t the first pay-to-win skin for the game, but seeing even one is a bad thing. Last month, the Oceanographer blueprint was found for Warzone, and it was certainly more powerful than it should be. Now we have an XM4 blueprint that is better than the original gun in a few ways. It will run you roughly fifteen bucks, but this sets a pretty dangerous precedent. It’s not a wildly overpowered gun, but any advantage you can get is one worth having, but paying real money for a blueprint for a free-to-play game that is also better than the original? Not so wild about that idea.
The Great Pacific Looks Cool and Is Better
As far as guns go, XM4 is certainly a solid one to go with. It’s better than the FFAR now, especially since it was recently nerfed. Why not go with the quality XM4, then? But why take a normal XM4 in Warzone when a pay-to-win option is the better choice? We all want to win. This blueprint is “Great Pacific,” and it costs 1800 COD points (so ~15 bucks).
This news came to light courtesy of TrueGameData in a YouTube video earlier this week. He compared the Great Pacific blueprint against the original XM4 that has begun to come into the spotlight. The Great Pacific XM4 is pay-to-win in Warzone for a few reasons. The biggest difference is though it has a slightly higher recoil, ADS is quicker and provides a better TTK (Time to Kill) since it has a 20% increase in the rate of fire.
Combine that with an Iron Sight, and as such is zoomed in more than the base weapon, you have plenty of vision when aiming down sights. This isn’t a new gun either, but people are just now discovering this particular blueprint. It dropped in Season 1 of Cold War in the “Tracer Pack: Indigo” bundle. So if you’re good at managing recoil, you can very easily mow down people in gunfights. If you’re sad about FFAR being nerfed, you may have an option – for a price. The XM4 is already a solid gun in Warzone, but having this pay-to-win blueprint snuck into the game is pretty telling.
It could mean that this could become more prevalent. The more people see them; the more people are likely to buy them. If Activision-Blizzard sees that pay-to-win bundles are selling, more could show up. That’s all hypothetical, mind. But it is certainly a slippery slope to see these be revealed more and more. The more interesting thing is how many of these guns are coming to light later on after originally dropped into the game. How many more pay-to-win guns are hiding in Warzone other than the XM4?
