Vitality’s CEO Interview, Hellraisers Fallen, More – CS:GO Daily Recap 9/5/2019
Welcome back everyone to another exciting day of CS:GO news! Today we’ve got a look the interview that Vitality recently gave about income for teams in the scene. Plus, more on the bombshell benching of their entire roster by Hellraisers, a look at some roster rumors surrounding Chaos and Complexity, and more.
As always, we’ve got a lot to cover today, so let’s dive on in.
Teams Aren’t Profitable
Our first stop is to France, where last month Vitality’s CEO Nicolas Mauerer gave an interview discussing the CS:GO scene and how orgs are doing financially with it.
According to a recent translation of the interview, it appears things aren’t going well for teams, as Mauerer claims no team in the scene is making money with their squads.
That comes as a surprise given how big the scene has grown in the past years. It causes a slight cause for concern if even a team as dominant as Liquid isn’t making a profit.
According to NeL, who brought the quote to light, most of the money made at events goes almost exclusively to players, with next to nothing left over for the orgs themselves to take.
The point is rather interesting in light of recent exposures of orgs not paying or struggling to pay their players. This could be a sign that smaller orgs may not be able to hang around in the scene much longer.
Until other large teams come out about how they’re doing financially, it’s hard to tell how the bad teams are in the hole right now. We’ll be on the lookout for any other teams to speak up on the matter.
Hellraisers Fallen
Speaking of teams at the Major, Hellraisers has been all over the news following their surprising 1-3 early exit at the Major. The team announced they would be benching their entire roster.
In a statement, the team said that this wouldn’t be the end of their participation in CS:GO. It is somewhat surprising to see a team completely disband their current Hellraisers roster after a Major.
Usually, teams will replace a couple of players here and there. This move seems to indicate something is wrong behind the scenes, especially as fellow 1-3 team Complexity imploded after their run.
Hopefully, we’ll indeed see another Hellraisers roster in the future, but that is certainly in question at this point.
Roster Changes
Speaking of Complexity’s roster, there are rumors that the team is looking to replace a few members of their squad, as the team’s CEO Jason Lake recently followed Neo and Kio on Twitter.
The rumor was furthered sparked after a leak on Cooper’s stream, so there is some credible source that the team could be pursuing the two.
Given Lake’s desire to build a world-class team, picking them up would be a good start at building a Major-winning roster.
Speaking of rosters, it appears Chaos could be returning to the scene soon with a new roster.
According to a report from RushB the team, which dropped their roster Tuesday ahead of the ECS Pinnacle Cup on the 10th of this month, is putting together a roster with Steel, Rush, Infinite, and Hydrex, along with Singularity’s coach Shakezullah.
It’s great to see these guys get recognized for their skill, and this roster could make some noise in the coming months, so we’ll keep an eye out for them.
That’s all we have for today, thanks for reading. We’ll be back tomorrow with more CS:GO news, so stay tuned!
