Veteran Top Laner Gamsu Returns to LoL With 100 Thieves Next
Here’s a bit of unexpected news: Noh “Gamsu” Yeong-jin (of Team Dignitas and Fnatic fame) has decided to return to competitive League of Legends and will compete under the 100 Thieves Next banner going forward. Now, if you’ve been following the scene for a long time, his name should definitely ring a bell. Gamsu never really etched his name in history but he was always a stellar player and had his fair share of standout moments over the years before making the move to Overwatch back in 2016.
And not only did Gamsu switch games, but he found a metric ton of success over in the Overwatch League as well. Naturally, it wasn’t all sunshine and roses, but his fantastic main tank play often made the difference during his Boston Uprising days, and doubly so once he signed for the Shanghai Dragons. That was the first line-up from Shanghai that was able to make history by winning the Stage 3 finals against the San Francisco Shock — and what a showing it was!
A Most Respectable Career
Gamsu is a veteran esports competitor in every which way and will no doubt go down in history as one of the most successful transitionists — an individual who has made a big enough splash across two wildly different titles.
Finally, the fact that Gamsu is returning to competitive LoL as a part of 100 Thieves Next is pretty much the absolute perfect decision on his end. He’ll be able to get back into the swing of things without the pressure that comes with competing on the LCS stage. He’s surely a bit rusty in terms of game knowledge and mechanics, so he’ll definitely need a bit of time to get up to speed. Then again, given his work ethic and dedication, no one should be overly surprised if Gamsu once again climbs the ranks and makes an appearance in LCS Academy, if not even the LCS (although that might be a bit of stretch). It’ll be a steep hill for him to climb, but if he could transition from League to Overwatch and still compete at the highest of levels, who are we to ever doubt him?
All in all, we’re elated that Gamsu has decided to return to his “roots” and will eagerly tune in to see him back in action!
