Valorant Downed Mechanic Leaked, New Mode Incoming?

A “Downed” mechanic may not work in traditional Valorant matches, but could it lead to something else? A recent leak has revealed this as-of-yet released mechanic into the game. This has of course, got people thinking about possible new modes, limited or otherwise. This leak came courtesy of Valorleaks, and they showed some strings of code. Are we going to see a future downed mechanic in Valorant on this Future Earth? We’ll just have to see.

Details on the Downed Mechanic in Valorant

While the competitive scene/ranked is the biggest part of Valorant in terms of popularity, it’s also been a game with really cool, exciting limited-time modes. Snowball, Escalation, and more, there’s always something interesting going on in the game. There’s always a chance this Downed mechanic could be for an LTM in Valorant. But what do we know?

Thanks to Valorleaks, we’ve got an idea. Your downed health is 100 HP, and there’s a max of 15 seconds of downed time. You can be revived from 2 meters away, and when revived, you come back with 50HP. There will also be a notification on the screen of someone reviving and notify the player. This will reportedly take 2 seconds. People may assume this will be a Battle Royale mode, but this writer doesn’t think that’s the case. It would be such a weird move for Valorant. A Free-For-All? Possibly. It could simply be a new mechanic for the actual game.

That isn’t to say it’s outside of the realm of possibility. We could see an Apex Legends-style Battle Royale in Fortnite. Probably not so much Fortnite, but something more technical and interesting. If this mechanic does make it into actual competitive Valorant though, it would make things pretty interesting. A player being downed but left alone (due to the range of the shot) comes back and wins the game for their team? Could be a fun story to tell.

There’s also a chance this could be a new Agent’s ability. Perhaps the next agent, when bested, has a chance to be revived and come back, or can revive their allies who have been defeated as an ultimate? It’s going to be really interesting to see where this goes.
