Valorant Beta Supposedly Being Announced Today
If you’re like us, you’re probably dying to find out any bit of news regarding Riot’s upcoming first-person shooter. Fortunately, it seems as though we’re quickly approaching the game’s full release, seeing how a Valorant beta will supposedly be announced today.
Valorant Beta Coming Soon
According to esports insider Ron “Slasher” Breslau, the closed beta will go live on April 7, with the official announcement taking place mere hours from now. This is a fantastic bit of news, although it’s still uncertain how “closed” of a beta it’ll be. Closed betas generally don’t include a lot of people, but Riot has their way of doing things. For instance, their closed Legends of Runeterra beta was more open as a ton of people had the opportunity to test the game out (either through signing up or testing their luck through Twitch drops).
In any case, at least we’ll get a metric ton of new content in a matter of days. Streamers and pro players will get their keys first, so if you’re interested in learning more about Valorant, make sure to keep an eye on the most popular streamers on Twitch. Once the closed beta begins, everyone’s favorite streaming platform is bound to be flooded with Valorant content.
Slasher’s report also coincides with a previous rumor from a couple of days ago. According to a random leaker, all of your closed beta progress will not transfer over to the final version of the game. You’ll still be able to buy in-game currency which will stay tied to your account once the game goes live.
There are still many questions regarding Valorant and its potential in the esports realm. Some are already considering it as the “Overwatch killer” but it’s still too early to predict anything with confidence. Fortunately, we won’t have to wait for long to find out whether Riot’s first FPS is a game-changer or just another iteration of a well-established concept that won’t make much of a splash.
