Valiance Defeats Mousesports and Ends Their Katowice Dream
Huge news coming from Poland! Mousesports, favorites to win the Katowice EU Minor, have been eliminated in the group A decider match after losing to Valiance. This comes as huge news, especially considering the fact Mousesports appeared in eight consecutive CS:GO Majors thus far. That’s right – they’ve attended every CS:GO Major since 2015. With all that in mind, it’s no surprise Mousesports’ major qualification chances disappearing are the talking point of today’s CS:GO news.
No one can fathom what exactly happened yesterday. Yes, the opening match could’ve gone either way, but it ended 16-14 in favor of Valiance. The elimination match against OpTic was no less thrilling, as the first map (Train) finished 16-14 in favor of Mousesports. Luckily, excellent T side on Nuke brought them the much-needed win as well as a chance to take revenge on Valiance. Then came the decider match.
And that’s exactly where Mousesports’ major qualification dreams went up in smoke. Don’t get me wrong – chrisJ and others weren’t exactly showing off their A game during the first two matches either, but their performance in the decider match was horrible, to say the least.
Despite going 5-0 on both maps, Mousesports failed to take full control of the match. Losing eco rounds, making silly rotation mistakes, bad retake strats – it all piled up and resulted in one of the toughest defeats for this mixed European side. Worst of all – no one saw it coming. Not even me. I actually expected Mousesports to win the Minor and cement their Major spot for the ninth time in a row.
We have to give credit where credit is due. Valiance, showed off great tactics, composure, and team cohesion. In fact, their victory is not only a result of a bad performance from Mousesports but a great performance by Valiance.
EspiranTo was having a blast, finishing the match with a total of 50 kills across the board. HuNter, cousin of FaZe’s NiKo, had a good match too. If Valiance manages to qualify for the Major and go through to the New Legends Stage, perhaps we’ll get to see some cousin against cousin action… It’d be a treat to watch, that’s for sure!
