Tyler1 Continues Quest For Challenger Rank on Every Role in League of Legends
Tyler1 has just achieved another milestone in the most esoteric goal in League of Legends, achieving Challenger Rank while only playing one role. Tyler has managed to put in eight months of the game focusing on this single milestone, finishing it in a massively intense battle. Now that he’s completed Top, he’s checked it off his list and is now moving onto his next milestone, Mid.
Just Who is Tyler1?
Many who are outside the league of legends circle may have heard of tyler1, otherwise known as Tyler Steinkamp. Tyler is a league of legends streamer, however, he’s known for his massive outbursts of anger, as well as extremely animated personality. Many of Tyler’s Reactions have been turned into memes throughout the internet, as Tyler’s online outbursts have been considered very humorous by the population of the internet.
Although Tyler’s attitude is more than just an act, his anger has gotten him banned from League of Legends, Twenty-Two times. Tyler’s account has been banned by Riot games for toxic behavior such as personally attacking players and intentionally losing at games to the detriment of his teammates. Tyler’s continued bad behavior got the attention of Riot themselves, as they stepped into ID ban Tyler on multiple occasions, with as Any ID Tyler had made Public on stream would be banned immediately even if that account had not broken any rules.
This forced Tyler to adapt to keep his audience, as Tyler had brought more attention to him in 2018, albeit more positive than negative. In 2018 for April Fool’s Tyler enacted a 45 minute green screen action video called “A Day in the Life of Tyler1” which drew in more viewers onto his channel. In the interim of being banned, Tyler would focus on other titles such as PUBG, changing things up for his online streaming career, as he had only exclusively played League.
However, it wouldn’t be until late 2017 that Tyler would be brought back to League of Legends as Riot had unbanned his account. When Tyler finally came back to League, his stream peaked at 382,000 viewers, becoming the most viewed streamer on the site breaking Faker’s record which he had set earlier that year.
Tyler would continue to play league, learning from his lesson. This all culminated when Tyler started a 3rd party championship, called the “Tyler1 Championship Series” Tyler hosted the tournament himself, and without sponsors, paid $10,000 to the winners of the tournament, Tyler would continue the series into the next year, dishing out $50,000 of his own cash, and bringing on more content creators to help host the series and run the live stream with him. This gained the attention of the League community, with many key players from the League Championship Series coming to see Tyler’s rendition of the event. Tyler’s event was such a success that Rift Herald praised the event from morphing originally from a meme to an almost perfect recreation of a 3rd party tournament.
Tyler’s Quest to Achieve Challenger on All Roles
Tyler’s Quest to achieve the highest rank in the game has been an ongoing battle for many months now, as seasons in league last just shy of a year, meaning that Tyler must put all the effort he can in to reach challenger before the season resets all of his progress.
This has not dissuaded Tyler however, as he’s managed to currently complete this feat on 3 lanes of the game. Tyler has successfully completed 3 seasons as challenger while only playing Jungle, Support, and now, Top. While the feat sounds extremely boring to some, Tyler has managed to stick it out. Even with the recent loss of his chance playing Top during a marathon at the last few hours of the season, losing his chance. However, in an intense final battle that was clipped by one of his viewers, he managed to complete this feat and check top lane off of his list.
After his win and completion of the herculean task, Tyler stated that his sights for the next season lie in reaching challenger by solely playing Mid, meaning that from the beginning of the season till the end of Tyler’s quest, viewers of his stream will be catching him playing mid until the sun sets.
