TI8 Group Stage Week Recap

TI8 Group Stage Recap time! Let’s get you caught up with some of the intense excitement surrounding this year’s TI8 Group Stage fun! First and foremost, Evil Geniuses is pretty much just wrecking everything. If you are comparing TI7 to TI8 – this is literally a 180 in the opposite direction.

After last years disappointing performance at TI7 – which resulted in some turmoil – many of us wondered what it meant for EG’s DOTA 2 division. Apparently what it meant was a bunch of drama and player swapping to make this current glorious roster. No one can deny just how effective that choice was!

TI8 Group Stage

It seems that EG is overshadowing some of the tremendous accomplishments that have occurred this Thursday and Friday since there were many spectacular games and plays across the board! Team Liquid continues to prove that they are a dominant force to be reckoned with.

Even with EGs success in the TI8 Group Stage so far – we can never discount Liquid.

If these teams can keep things up – they both have a great shot. We have seen great strategies and tactics from many of the other teams that show what being a professional DOTA 2 player is all about. They are considered the best for a reason of course, and we even witnessed a triple rampage with the iG and PSG game.

Friday’s games were a clear display of brilliance when it came to true skillful play by many teams, but Liquid vs EG was my highlight. EG has been a power house this tournament – yet Liquid still took them down with their positioning skills. If they end up in the finals together, that would definitely be good for Liquid it seems.

TI8 Group Stage Wrap Up – The Prize Pool

Clearly there are an incredible amount of talented teams competing this year that many of us were clearly surprised and delighted by. The competition is fierce and no one is going to just go down without a battle with so much on the line. Don’t forget folks, this is the DOTA 2 Superbowl!

Aside from the stunning performances by these many impressive teams, the prize pool has reached over 24.5 million and has 8 more days until it closes. It means that it can still potentially exceed that 25 million mark and beat TI7’s total prize pool of $24,787,916.

If we can take anything from what we have seen play wise by some of these teams, especially EG and Liquid, that it is still anyone’s game! Also, that the prize pool will continue to grow and add further incentive to these teams to win it all! Can TI8 reach that prize pool mark? I personally believe so!
