TI8 Day 2 Main Event is officially in the books and we were not disappointed at all! It was an excellent day of DOTA 2 with impressive wins from all the teams involved. However, the big news from Day 2 was the prize pool breaking over 25 million dollars!

TI8 Day 2 Main Event

Your eyes are not deceiving you. The prize pool for this tournament has reached over 25 million dollars and once again The International makes esports history. That means that the first place team will be taking home over 11 million just themselves. Not too shabby of a haul for one tournament!

To be fair, this isn’t just any tournament, it is The International! Where dreams are made and hopes are crushed.

The TI8 Day 2 Main Event had some spectacular games played during it and while we celebrate the winners continued success on this road, others journeys ended here. Some will be able to continue fighting their way from the Lower Brackets while others will be waving farewell.

TI8 Day 2 Main Event Game Highlights

Two teams journey has concluded as Team Serenity and Mineski were knocked out of the lower brackets. OpTic Gaming took down Team Serenity 2-0 while Virtus.pro took out Mineski with a score of 2-0.

These two teams will now clash with one another in an attempt to fight their way through the lower brackets and potentially into the Grand Finals. Both of these teams are incredibly talented and neither will go down without a fight.

From the Upper Brackets, Evil Geniuses took down Team Secret and sent them to the lower brackets with a score of 2-0 where they will now have to face off against Vici Gaming to move onto the next step. Evil Geniuses has been a force to be reckoned with all of TI8 and this victory was no surprise.

OG did the same to VGJ.Storm with a 2-0 victory over them and sent VGJ to the lower brackets where they will battle against the Winstrike Team. OG on the other hand will now be facing off against Evil Geniuses in their next set of games.

The match between these two teams will be pretty intense since both OG and EG have looked pretty spectacular this tournament. However, EG has defeated OG previously during the Group Stage on 8/16/18 in a best of 2 series 2-0. We will have to see if OG has revamped their strategy to take down EG.

Below you can see the matches that occurred on Tuesday.

TI8 Day 2 Main Event Wrap Up

Tuesday was clearly an exciting day in gaming history with the prize pool breaking the 25 million cap and the intense games that we were able to enjoy. How it appears, Team Liquid and Evil Geniuses are quite dominant thus far. However, both Team Liquid and EG have tough matches ahead of them on 8/22/18.

Evil Geniuses against OG, who they had beaten 2-0 in the Group Stage. While Team Liquid will be taking on PSG.LGD in their match. PSG.LGD did manage to go 1-1 with Liquid during the Group Stage Bo2 series on 8/15/18 and displayed that they had the ability to beat Liquid.

Personal hope still remains that OpTic gaming can somehow fight their way out of the lower brackets and still come back as an incredibly entertaining story. That outcome seems unlikely since they will have to fight some insanely tough competition to make that happen, however, it would be extremely entertaining!

Regardless of who beats who today, we are guaranteed some quality matches to observe going into the end rounds of The International! Until next time folks!
