THQ Nordic Showcase Teased 6 New Games & Geoff Keighley
Many gamers who have grown up renting games may have seen the name THQ on their screens. This publisher was known for making licensed titles for all the consoles of that age, whether they were behind something like Battle for Bikini Bottom, or Scooby-Doo, they were there. However, THQ ended up going the way of the DoDo. However, their name wasn’t done with the world yet. Thus, THQ Nordic rose like a phoenix from THQ’s ashes, and they started publishing titles of their own.
What Has THQ Nordic Released Recently?
More recently, they’ve been the publisher behind some of the most well-received remakes from the original publisher’s hay day. Almost breaking the internet with the reveal that Battle for Bikini Bottom was being remade for modern consoles and PC. As well as the announcement that the first Destroy All Humans! was coming back once more as a remake. They were also the publisher behind the game Biomutant, which was an open-world game that played like a hack and Slash title. THQ Nordic was also behind Darksiders 3, bringing the game back once more.
However, after 10 years of making games, they’re celebrating with a showcase of their own, much like PlayStation with their PS5 showcase. The event announcement was posted onto YouTube, with the video celebrating the 10 years the company has been publishing titles. On the screen is the time and date for the THQ Nordic showcase, September 17 at 9 p.m. CEST. However, every showcase needs a host, and who is better than Geoff Keighley. He’s slated to be at the show to run the festivities, and THQ Nordic promised that no less than 6 new games are going to be revealed at the showcase.
What Was Revealed in the Showcase?
THQ Nordic had some things to say about the showcase as well. “Witness the return of legendary franchises, including some for which fans have been waiting decades to get their hands on a new installment, and you can also expect to see sequels to beloved games. We hope you are ready, kids!”
They also mentioned that aside from the six games, two of their upcoming games, ELEX II, and Expeditions: Rome are going to have more information revealed at the showcase as well. Most likely, these games are going to get a release date. However, they also mention in the description of the video that players might see a glimpse from HandyGames, one of THQ Nordic’s in-house developers. This could be interesting, seeing that they’re one of the developers who worked on Spongebob Battle for Bikini Bottom.
Players also noticed that the big 10 in the logo shown at the end of the video has something that can’t be identified. This is a piece of art featuring SpongeBob, and with GameMill being the publisher for Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, this isn’t art from that game. Therefore, this never-before-seen art could be something that players will find out more about in the showcase. There’s a chance that THQ could be reviving the four-player co-op game Nicktoons Unite, which fell under their umbrella originally, however that could be a stretch. Players are also hoping for more information about a possible remake of Destroy All Humans 2. Seeing that the original game was a faithful remake of the title, there’s all the more reason to continue the series and remake the second title, keeping the visual fidelity of the original, and making the game playable on modern consoles.
Regardless, with the showcase coming in 2 weeks, there’s plenty of time to check out what the publisher is currently offering on all consoles in the meantime.
