Hearthstone: The Boomsday Project has Arrived!
The Ninth Hearthstone expansion – The Boomsday Project has arrived!
The Boomsday Project is one of the first expansions in a while to go back to the Mech focused content since the earlier Goblins vs. Gnomes release. The central focus of this expansion is to have cards with explosions and whacky effects.
Blizzard did not disappoint their fans whatsoever with this amazing new addition to the game. Just like all expansions that come out – major changes are in the works – and The Boomsday Project does not look like it will disappoint.
What did this expansion bring to the Hearthstone world?
Over 100 new cards with many different and exciting abilities that players can build their decks around. Many are already shocked at how incredibly powerful and useful some of these cards are!
The Boomsday Project – New Ability – Magnetic
A truly impressive new addition that was brought with this expansion is the new ability magnetic.
What this ability does is allows multiple minions to be merged together must like a Void Terror effect from the Warlock deck. Mech minions to the left and right will be consumed and their stats added to create one super minion
Magnetic works like an enchantment effect however rather than a transformation effect. That means that it can be impacted by silence or being returned to a players hand, and will not retain the stats from the sacrificed minions.
The Boomsday Project – Cause and Effect Type Cards
There are many powerful low-cost cards that can change the dynamics of the battlefield – benefitting just yourself – your opponent and yourself – and so on. Many of the cards are very interesting because they have a cause and effect concept.
For example, Juicy Psychmelon is a 4-cost card that allows you to draw a 7,8,9 and 10-cost minion from your deck. That’s right – it’s a 4 for 4 deal! However – now your hand is filled with 4 high-cost cards that you can’t play right away.
Not all cards are straightforward, however, like the extremely powerful Mecha’thun – which is a 10-10-10 card and a “deathrattle” effect that destroys the enemy hero under the condition that you have no cards in your deck- hand, and battlefield. Not necessarily the easiest task, yet if performed its an instant win.
There are definitely many new ways to play that this expansion has opened and it will be exciting to see what the top players come up with strategy wise.
Conclusion
Clearly this expansion is quite interesting and provides players with a whole lot of room to expand their deck’s potentials while forcing them to replace some of their current favorites.
There are some extremely powerful decks that can be made, and Warrior – Druid – and Paladin look especially annoying. After “The Witchwood” expansion and getting to see all the chaos that the odd decks and echo effects brought to the game, we can only imagine what joys will come from The Boomsday Project.
Which heroes will rampage through this season and be the best to climb the ranks? Only time will tell and we look forward to discussing it with you!
