Tfue Avoids Ban, Twitch Continues Non-Uniform Policies
Following his recent run-in with controversy, many thought Tfue might have finally run out of luck. Some thought he would face a ban, at least temporarily, on Twitch for his racially charged remarks.
This belief was further compounded by his account, which already has two strikes against it from previous infractions. He could face a permanent ban if found guilty here again.
While this should be the last we hear of the Fortnite star, it appears Tfue has some luck left in the tank. He’s somehow managed to avoid any punishment from Twitch.
No warning, no Tfue ban, nothing on Twitch’s part for a very clear and obvious infraction.
The Trend Continues
The move continues Twitch’s ongoing trend this year of not punishing it’s biggest stars and failing to follow the guidelines it sets for users.
What gets one user banned can lead to nothing for another, leading to much confusion and frustration as people are confused where the line between fine and punishment begins and ends.
It’s not an issue of people mishearing him like Pokimane and other streamers have dealt with this year. You can hear him drop the n-word during his Minecraft stream, so the lack of punishment of any kind from Twitch is shocking.
Given Twitch banned TFBlade for even just sounding like he said something racially charged, one would expect Twitch to have issued a similar or stronger punishment here.
What Could the Lack of a Tfue Ban Mean?
Twitch’s unwillingness to move forward with a Tfue ban, as well as other big-name streamers who’ve encountered trouble, may be a sign that Ninja’s move to Mixer has scared the company.
Losing your biggest streamer, the largest in the world at that, to a rival platform is a big deal, and shows that money speaks more than history.
Streamers who’ve built their careers on Twitch are willing to ditch the platform for a bigger and easier paycheck elsewhere.
They may fear punishing these streamers could lead to them fleeing to the rival platform; however, letting them get away with more is unacceptable.
Whatever the reason, Twitch needs to start being more consistent and precise with their rules and enforcement; otherwise, they’re going to start bleeding talent.
