TF Blade Gets Banned by Riot Korea
One of the most popular League of Legends streamers in the world has once again found himself at the receiving end of the banhammer, although this time by Riot Korea.
The news that Ashkan “TF Blade” Homayouni got banned again shouldn’t come as a surprise. After all, he has a history of being toxic beyond comprehension. Because of this, Europe Nordict East and Turkish servers banned TF Blade, as well.
The Many Sides to TF Blade
There’s also his (now famous) Twitch suspension. Although that’s more of a complex topic, seeing how one can debate whether he deserved the ban or if it was a big misunderstanding. His latest run-in with Riot Korea, however, is easy to read and understand. You could argue that it was a long time coming. This move could signal the start of a new era for Riot and their stance on streamers and their antics.
We’ve seen many instances in which streamers go one step too far to entertain. TF Blade seems like a good guy at heart. Still, he’s also a good representation of the cliché, toxic, immature League player who’ll do and say anything to vent after failing to win. This lack of empathy and humility is appalling. It makes TF Blade an awful role model for the thousands of people watching, many of whom are young adolescents.
Anyone who watched his climb to rank one on the Korean server saw just how inappropriately he was behaving. The fact that he did all of that while playing on an account provided by Riot only makes it more baffling.
The community is not on his side. Many players agree that TF Blade often took things a bit too far. Former Cloud9 and Team Impulse jungler (and streaming sensation) Lee “Rush” Yoon-Jae also chimed in on the matter. You can read a summary of his comments on Reddit.
Finally, if you’re constantly getting banned — with or without reason — you surely must be doing something wrong. There’s no concrete reason for the world to hate on TF Blade, and yet he always finds himself in hot water regardless of the server he opts to compete in.
To those who have watched his streams, this sudden ban came as no surprise. We can even go one step further and call it perfectly justified. Hopefully, this moment marks the start of a more controlled streaming environment. No one should have the right to flame, offend, or threaten other players regardless of their rank or position in the esports world. Unfortunately, it feels like TF Blade won’t learn much of a lesson this time either as he’s always trying to shift blame and paint himself as a victim.
