TF Blade Banned Again on Twitch for Racial Slur

by in Entertainment | Sep, 13th 2019

TF Blade’s troubles with his stream only appear to be getting worse. The famous Gangplank player has been banned once again after using racial slurs in the Turkish League of Legends server.

TF Blade was banned again following hundreds of instances of racially charged language by Blade, including calling Turkish players “dogs” and referring to Turks as “unintelligent.”

Twitch Bans

TF’s ban didn’t stop with Riot’s servers. The streamer was also banned from Twitch over the remarks, having broken the company’s ToS with the comments.

While the ban was justified based on what he said, it took a long time for Twitch to ban him, with almost 11 days passing between his League ban and his ban on the streaming platform.

Given Twitch’s recent history with failing to ban players for racially charged remarks, the fact that TF Blade was punished has been surprising. He remains one of the few big-name streamers to be punished for his words, again adding more confusion to Twitches ban policy.

Defense and Offense

Speaking out on Twitlonger over the ban, TF Blade explained why he was banned from the platform. He apologized to fans over the remarks, claiming he had no idea the comments were offensive and hadn’t meant to hurt anyone with them.

Blaming his outbursts on a surge in trollish players in his games, he promised never to repeat his actions. He noted he was now back in Canada, with the promise to return to Turkey and EUNE at a later date to achieve his goal of making rank 1 in every region.

While the apology sparked division amongst the community, reactions to his bans continued to stir the pot further. HotshotGG, the founder and former pro player for Counter Logic Gaming (CLG), took to Twitter, blaming Riot for failing to deal with toxic players and accusing them of not respecting their content creators.

The remarks were heavily scrutinized by the community, with many accusing Hotshot of supporting racism and calling on CLG to cut ties with him.

CLG wasn’t the only org getting involved, though, as TF Blade’s sponsor org Team Liquid announced, via their CEO Steve Arhancet

At the time of this publication, TF Blade remains a part of Team Liquid, though we’ll continue to keep you updated as the situation develops over the coming days.
