Teamfight Tactics Patch 9.15 Breakdown
Two weeks have passed, which means we have yet another set of balance changes to go over — this time it’s Teamfight Tactics patch 9.15! This is a rather monumental patch, primarily because Riot is changing a metric ton of things in-game. That includes champions, items, and multiple core game mechanics and numbers.
In short, if you’re a Teamfight Tactics regular, it will take a bit of time to get used to the sheer number of changes, but most of them are for the better.
So without any further ado, let’s start our Teamfight Tactics patch 9.15 breakdown!
Mid-Patch Updates
Frozen Heart — The item now works as was initially intended. Frozen Heart will now apply its debuff to an enemy champion only once.
Ionic Spark — The item will now work against Assassins the way it was supposed to.
Thornmail — Riot is changing Thornmail’s damage from True Damage to Magic Damage.
Akali — Her ability will now critically strike according to her critical strike chance, instead of always.
Cho’Gath — His Ability Damage numbers are going down from 250/500/750 to 200/400/600.
Mordekaiser — His Health is going up from 500 to 550.
Systems
Win/Loss Streaks — Both streaks will now be much more beneficial. Both win as well as loss streak breakpoints are getting changed from 2/5/8 to 2/4/7.
Class Breakpoints — A couple of classes will now have new breakpoints. You can look at the changes below:
Player Damage — Riot is lowering the amount of damage players take from minions and certain tiers and star levels.
Carousel Stage — The number of available units is going down from 10 to 9.
Assassin
Assassins will now jump earlier and more quickly. Non-assassin champion movement will be slowed at the start of combat. They will also be targetable sooner.
Besides this, certain Assassin champions are getting tweaked:
Evelynn’s Attack damage is going up from 60 to 70. Her Ability Damage is also going up from 200/250/350 to 200/300/400. Katarina’s ability will now target more enemies (from 3/5/7 to 4/6/8). Rengar’s Attack Damage is going up (from 65 to 70) along with his Attack Speed (from 0.55 to 0.60) and Ability Attack Speed Buff (from 0.3/0.5/0.7 to 0.4/0.7/1.0).
Demon
Demon champions are currently a bit too strong. In order to bring them down to earth a bit, Riot is shipping nerfs to a couple of them.
Demon Mana Burn chance rates are going down from 25%/50%/85% to 20%/35%/60%. Varus’ Ability Damage numbers are going down in the early game (from 400/600/800 to 300/550/800). Aatrox’s Ability Damage is also going down (from 400/700/1000 to 250/600/950) along with his Health (from 750 to 700). Finally, Morgana’s Ability Damage numbers are taking a serious hit early on — from 300/375/450 to 200/325/450.
Dragon
The fact that Dragons are 100% immune to Magic Damage is, for lack of a better word, over-powered. Riot is nerfing this one trait in order to open up a larger window of opportunity to their opponents. Because this is a direct nerf, Riot is shipping a couple of buffs in order to even things out.
Dragon’s will now have 83% Magic Immunity instead of 100%. Shyvana’s Armor is going up from 20 to 30, Aurelion Sol’s Health is going up from 600 to 650, along with his Ability Damage (from 250/450/650 to 250/500/750).
Elementalist
The changes shipping to the Elementalist class aren’t huge by any stretch of the imagination, but they do affect two specific champions.
Lissandra’s Ability Damage is going up (by quite a bit) from 150/200/250 to 150/275/400, and the same goes for Brand and his ability (from 175/325/475 to 200/375/550).
Guardian
Guardians currently occupy a small niche, but overall they lack the power in order to actually become a fully viable option. Going forward, Guardians will gain 50 armor per stack instead of 40, but they won’t be able to buff themselves.
Also, Braum and Leona’s Armor are going up (from 25 to 75 for Braum, and from 55 to 100 for Leona).
Knight
Riot is working on improving the “Knights fantasy” by making sure Knights protect the whole team. Going forward, the whole team will ignore 15/30/55 damage from all sources (and will no longer block 20/40/80 damage from basic attacks).
As for champion-specific changes, Darius’ Armor is going up (from 25 to 40), and the same goes for Garen (from 35 to 40), Mordekaiser (from 35 to 40), Sejuani (35 to 40), and Kayle (35 to 40). Sejuani’s Stun Duration is also going up (from 2/3.5/5 to 2/4/6) and Kayle will also have a bit less health (from 800 to 750).
Ninja
Going forward, the Ninja Train Bonus is going up from +40% AD (for one Ninja)/80% AD (for four) to +40 AD & AP (for one) and +60 AD & AP (for four).
As for specific champions, Shen’s Attack Speed is going up (from 0.6 to 0.7), and the same goes for Zed (from 0.6 to 0.65 Attack Speed) who’s also getting a bit more Attack Damage (from 60 to 65).
Finally, Kennen and Akali’s Ability Damage numbers are going down — from 400/650/900 to 225/450/675 for Kennen, and from 200/375/550 to 150/275/400 for Akali.
Noble
The Noble class is getting multiple adjustments with Teamfight Tactics patch 9.15.
First of all, the Noble buff is getting tweaked (from 100 Armor/+35 Life on Hit to 60 Armor & MR/+35 Life on Hit). Vayne will have less Attack Damage (from 45 to 40) but more Attack Speed (from 0.65 to 0.75). The same goes for Garen who’ll have less AD (from 55 to 50), but more Attack Speed (from 0.55 to 0.6) as well as higher Ability Damage numbers (from 450/585/720 to 360/585/810).
Pirate
Pirates will gain more average gold per chest (from 1.6 to 1.75). Twisted Fate will now have improved cast speed and will have higher Ability Damage numbers (from 100/150/200 to 150/250/350). Finally, Graves is getting some love — his Attack Speed is going up from 0.5 to 0.55.
Void
The Void class is getting “reimagined” this patch. You can take a look at the many changes below:
Yordle
The Yordles are currently in a good spot overall, but they don’t always work as well as they could. Going forward, three Yordles will grant you 30% Dodge (instead of 25%), and six will grant 55% Dodge instead of 60%.
Also, Lulu will have a bit less Armor (from 25 to 20), Veigar will have more Health (from 450 to 500), and Gnar will have a bit more Attack Damage (from 45 to 50).
Other Champions
Riot is also shipping champion-specific changes regardless of their traits and classes.
Ashe will now have a bit more AD (from 60 to 65), and the same goes for Kindred (from 55 to 60), and Yasuo (from 65 to 75). Morgana’s Ability cast time is going up (from 0.35 to 0.5 to match all other champions), Blitzcrank will have a bit less mana (from 150 to 125).
Finally, Karthus needs to be a bit stronger overall. His Ability Damage is going up (from 350/600/850 to 400/700/1000) and the ability will target more champions (from 4/7/10 to 5/9/13).
Items
Locket — It will now grant a 250 HP shield that lasts for four seconds, instead of a 200 HP one.
Ionic Spark — It will now deal less damage (from 200 to 150).
Hush Silence — Its duration is going down from 5 seconds to 3.
Statikk Shiv — Its damage is going down from 100 to 90.
