Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Dragon Quest Hero Announced
The newest Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC fighter, the Dragon Quest Hero, has just been announced, and while I was slightly underwhelmed by yet another sword character the announcement couldn’t have made more sense. While we may not have expected the new Smash Bros DLC character to be Dragon Quest Hero, he should serve to be a decent addition to the cast. As part of our E3 coverage we’ve got all the details behind the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Dragon Quest Hero announcement and more so stay tuned.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Dragon Quest Hero
In true Nintendo fashion, fans were treated to a chunk of the Hero’s gameplay but were left craving more. The Nintendo E3 direct may have only shown brief clips, but as per usual each moment was jam-packed full of details.
First things first, there’s great news for long-time Dragon Quest fans. Players will be able to swap between different versions of the hero! This will likely behave like it does with characters such as Inkling where each version of the Hero is essentially an alternate color as opposed to their own unique echo character.
While we didn’t get enough gameplay to really get an idea of where the Hero will fall in the power rankings, there was enough to know he’ll likely make for a decent sword and board fighter.
Character Name’s Release Date
The Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Dragon Quest Hero will be released in Summer 2019. Unfortunately, Nintendo didn’t give a precise date but it’s there’s a decent chance we’ll find out shortly. As we saw with Joker, The Dragon Quest Hero will be included in the Smash Bros. Ultimate fighter pass while also likely available for individual purchase at $5.99. It’s also likely we’ll receive a new stage and several iconic Dragon Quest songs with the new character.
Banjo Kazooie Joins the Roster
As I was moments away from publishing this post, Nintendo took us all by surprise and announced a second DLC character! After years of player requests, Banjo Kazooie has finally made his way into the Smash roster!
While we may have previously predicted Nintendo unveiling a second character, I don’t want to ruin the way Banjo was revealed for readers, so even if you don’t watch the full Nintendo Direct, it’s a moment worth experiencing for yourself.
Stay tuned for a more in-depth look at the new SSBU DLC later in the day!
