Sonic The Hedgehog Collab Coming to Monster Hunter Rise
Monster Hunter Rise has been getting a lot of Sega collaborations since it’s launched, and the next game that’s going to be featured in the title is Sega’s top-selling series, Sonic the Hedgehog. Being that the player character is followed around by two furry companions, it’s only fair that the collaboration will allow the player to dress up their four-legged friends with special sonic gear.

The collaboration, which was posted on the official Monster Hunter Twitter, shows off what players can expect from the game when the collaboration launches. Much like the previous collaboration events players will get the chance to participate in a mission based on the game that’s being promoted in the event. This mission, while its objective isn’t shown in the game, is going to have players running around and collecting rings, just like in Sonic. Players who complete the mission will be rewarded with some special cosmetics in the game for not only the player, but their companion characters to wear.

The player is going to receive a Sonic outfit, and while it doesn’t look like they’re going to be dressing up exactly like the blue blur, they’re going to have a slick pair of athletic shorts and jacket, with the addition of Sonic’s iconic shoes, and a hat that resembles his quills.
However, the meat of the Sonic collaboration comes in the form of the outfits that are given to the player’s Palico companion and their Palamute.
Their bipedal cat friend is going to get its own sonic outfit, dressing up like Sonic from head to toe, complete with a chibi Sonic mascot head. It also appears that the costume is going to give the Palico some special abilities in battle. Some of the gameplay shown in the trailer has the feline companion running around just like Sonic in the overworld, complete with their legs blurring from their extremely fast footwork. However, they’re also going to be able to use the Chaos Emeralds to become Super Sonic as well. Their jumping animations have also been changed to show them turning into a ball when they jump.
Moving onwards to the Palamute character, they’re getting their own set of clothes for the collaboration as well. This canine companion is going to be able to don an outfit that makes them look like Sonic’s best friend Tails. While it’s not as intricate as the Sonic outfit for the Palico, the Palamute is going to get a shirt and a hat that look like Tails, as well as a pair of gloves for their feet. The most impressive part of the costume is the shorts for the Palamute, which gives them an extra tail since Sonic’s friend is known for using his tails like a helicopter to help Sonic tackle tricky platforms. While the outfit isn’t going to let the player’s canine friend lift them into the air, it’s an adorable addition to the collaboration.
The outfit will also most likely fit in the vanity slot for armor, seeing that the Okami crossover had the Palamute’s Amaterasu outfit fit in the same slot, so no matter how strong of armor the player and their pals have on, they’ll still look cool while they’re fighting monsters in the game dressed up like Sega’s iconic characters.
Since the collaboration for the game is coming out on November 26th, players who are looking to purchase the game on PC when it launches next year are going to be missing out on the initial launch of the collaboration. However, the game has these player’s covered. Since they’re launching the game after this collaboration, players are going to be able to do these events on day one when the game launches on PC, and they won’t go out of the rotation when players join at a later date.
This sounds like another reason to pick up Monster Hunter Rise, and the fact that it’s going to be available as soon as the PC version of the game releases means that players won’t be left in the dust when they decide to pick the game up on a more powerful set of hardware. However, players are still going to have to repeat all of their progress if they’re planning on getting the game on both consoles, since Mosnter Hunter Rise isn’t going to feature any form of cross save in the game.
