Smeb Joins KT Rolster for 2020 LCK Summer Split
If you’re a true LCK fan, you’ll probably be elated to find out that Song “Smeb” Kyung-ho decided to rejoin KT Rolster and compete under their banner for the remainder of the 2020 season. This will mark his second stint as KT’s top laner after first signing for the organization back in November of 2016. He then played for three years straight and further solidified his spot as one of the best and most talented top laners that have ever stepped foot on stage to compete.
Even though he hasn’t played throughout the most recent 2020 LCK Spring Split, Smeb is still as big of a name as you can get. The former MVP might not be as good as he was a couple of years ago, but he’s still more than capable of trading blows with the best teams the LCK has to offer. Speaking of KT Rolster, they had a fairly solid run in 2020 with a commendable 10W-8L record. They were able to finish fourth after the regular portion of the split concluded but then fell prey to DAMWON Gaming in the first round of the playoffs. Still, a lot of people doubted their long-term potential, so a finish near the top of the region is far from a bad result.
Making Big Moves
This is the second off-season move KT Rolster has made so far and it’s quite a big one. They’ve also brought over Son “Ucal” Woo-hyeon from Griffin and will look to improve on their ranking in the upcoming Summer Split. Theoretically speaking, this line-up has quite a lot of potential. Whether that’ll be enough to lock down a spot at the World Championship remains to be seen. The LCK is relatively stacked this year with T1, Gen.G, DragonX, and DAMWON Gaming leading the pack as the most prominent (and talented) teams in the region.
If KT wants to upset the current status quo, they’ll have to fight harder than ever. In any case, top-tier League of Legends should not be absent. This will also be the last LCK split before franchising, so you can bet everyone’s going to give 100% right from the very get-go.
