Sky Williams Speaks House Drama a Year Later

by in Fighting Game News | Jun, 29th 2021

After the #ApologizetoSky tag began to trend on Twitter, Sky Williams returned to clear the air about the Sky House drama. A host of accusations surfaced at this time, right around the same time several major names in the Smash community were accused of sexual abuse. Sky Williams was accused of abusing the power of the people who lived in one Sky Williams house or another and even allowing sexual misconduct to occur in these places. It was alleged last year that members of the Smash community like D1, ZeRo, and Keitaro reportedly committed their misdeeds in a Sky House.

Returning to Pay Back What He Owes:

However, though initially reluctant, Sky Williams has resurfaced on Twitter to address the various house drama that came up last year. Originally, he wasn’t going to do this anytime soon, but the #ApologizetoSky tag got to him, and he came back. Sky Williams does not argue that he was unkind, and a terrible person to many people who lived with him.

In addition to the above hashtag, a video by Technicals, “The Truth Behind the Sky House” claimed Jacquline “Jisu” Choe exaggerated her claims. This was allegedly done to cancel Sky and ZeRo. This video sparked the urge in Sky Williams to speak up about the Sky House drama and the various allegations. In the Twitter thread, Sky Williams had a great deal to say, such as:

“A common link to this would be the homes I had rented over the years served to house Smashers for next to nothing. There were several valid points made against me at the time: my extreme toxic behavior, the money I loaned and failed to pay back, my abhorrent response, [and] my negligence as a ‘landlord.’ But this is where it stops. I need to emphasize that. Because those other four statements were true, I have been looped in with other, more extreme disgusting statements that have not and never will be true.”

Rumors and accusations about Sky reportedly led him down a dark path and dealt irreversible damage to his brand. Sky didn’t argue about being incredibly toxic and admitted that he’s a lot of very negative things. He denies outright some of the other accusations, such as being Jisu’s actual abuser, a rapist, a groomer, or a sexual abuser. The choice to rent out these houses to 20-25 people at once was admittedly a terrible idea, and many negatives came as a result of this.

It sounds like Sky Williams has been in therapy and trying to improve himself since the Sky House incident. To some, it just looks like he’s trying to cover his ass, speaking up a year later after the accusations came out. At least he’s admitted that he committed wrongdoing to his friends in some manner. Sky Williams points out that he’s been trying to stream and work to make the money back he owes people, to the tune of 350,000 dollars. That’s no small sum. It’s up to the Smash community and the people he harmed whether or not they wish to let him back into their lives. Sky did admit he didn’t expect to be welcomed back into the Smash Community at all, thanks to this.

One of his final thoughts was this:

“But what I can say, without a doubt is I’m not that toxic person anymore. Many people can attest to this point. I have made mental growth spurts which I’m proud of, and I will continue to grow like most people do.”

It’s up to you where you stand on all of what Sky said. I’d like to think maybe he can make good, and grow as a person, but there are bound to be people irreparably harmed by his actions in the past several years. Where do you stand? Feel free to let us know on social media!
