SK Gaming to Promote Lilipp to Starting Line-Up, Jesiz Moving Back to Coaching
After making the mother of all experimental roster changes a couple of weeks ago, SK Gaming has once again decided to revert “back to normal” — Jesse “Jesiz” Le will be returning to the Head Coach position (effective immediately), whereas SK Gaming Prime support Philipp “Lilipp” Englert will be getting a promotion.

It’s no secret that SK’s off-season maneuvers didn’t pan out. In fact, that’s an understatement — they’ve been downright dreadful, and the changes they had made had yielded nothing worthy of praise and commendation. They’re currently the only team in the LEC without even a single win on the board. They’ve been the worst-performing team in the region and after losing five games in a row it was about time to sound the alarms.
Such huge, sweeping changes were a necessity, especially given the fact that Schalke 04, Astralis, EXCEL, and Team Vitality all have noticeably better records (2W-3L). For SK to stand even the slightest chance of correcting course and reaching the playoffs, changes had to have been made. The only question now is: will this be enough? They still have an “auto-filled” jungler which, in a region stacked with incredible jungling behemoths, is quite a problem. To be fair, Erik “Treatz” Wessén has been doing fairly well, but the point still stands.
A Tough Road Ahead
If you’re an SK Gaming fan, now would be the time to temper your expectations with Lilipp and Jesiz. This line-up has more than enough talent to compete for a spot in the playoffs, but it’s also fair to say that luck simply wasn’t on SK’s side. As a result, they’re all but guaranteed to finish near the very bottom of the standings, no matter what kind of change they go for at this point in time.
They’re scheduled to face MAD Lions and EXCEL Esports this week, and if they could get even a single win on the board that would certainly give them a bit of much-needed confidence and momentum going forward. Whether that’s realistic or not, however, still remains to be seen.
