Season 11 Rewards – Season 12 updates

Season 12 of Overwatch

Like any other season in Overwatch, there were rewards based on the placement of players within their respective ratings. Blizzard announced how the Season 11 rewards would be distributed and it would be determined by the placement matches like before.

There were some standard updates to occur that were tested on the PTR with technical gameplay issues such as increasing the precision of Ana and Widowmaker’s Relative Aim Sensitivity While Zoomed slider. Also slight changes to Brigitte’s shield bash ability.

Players mainly awaited the great Reinhardt overhaul regarding the change to his ultimate attack working more consistently. In addition, there was a new map called BUSAN, which is based in South Korea. An unexpected issue came in the form of a release of additional content known as the D.Va Nano Cola Challenge.

There was a rather unique addition to this challenge that got fans interested by including Twitch in the promotion. Specific Overwatch streamers on twitch were given “drop loots” that fans who have their Blizzard account linked to Twitch can obtain.

Spectators can earn up to 4 rewards by watching participating streams at 2 hours, 4 hours, 6 hours, and 8 hours. These rewards are purely earned through watching streamers on Twitch and cannot be earned in game.

Competitive Player Anger

The Season 12 of Overwatch doesn’t enter the scene without some drama resulting at the end of Season 11 however. Many competitive players were very angry with the Nano update challenge 5 hours prior to the close of the season. The update was done live while the servers were active.

For players who were aiming to push their rating up as high as they possibly could before the season ended, the forced update did not work out for them. While the competitive games were in progress, Blizzard released the D.Va Nano Challenge update which caused disconnects and players to lose upwards of -50 SR.

Rather then the beginning of the new season starting with cheers and love, it was filled with angry tears at the unfortunate turn of events. Quite a huge deal for those trying to push that final rating up to reap the rewards before season close.

Season 12 of Overwatch Wrap up

Overall the Season 12 of Overwatch is already turning out to be a very interesting endeavor. Even though there were some issues for the competitive players and the update at the end of S11, the Nano challenge has been very exciting!

Select Overwatch streamers have gained a bump in their viewership as a result of this promotion. It has definitely shown a rise in Twitch viewership for Overwatch if nothing else and gives people a reason to tune in.
