‘Save Apex Ranked’ Trends on Twitter From Apex Legends Players
Apex Legends is one of the most popular battle royale games of all time, and for some players, it is the best of the genre, especially in this current Legacy season. That said, it has its own set of issues that players will need to watch out for moving forward. That is why the community came out in full force with the recent “Save Apex Ranked” trend.
Save Apex Ranked Trends on Twitter
The “Save Apex Ranked” trend began earlier this week on Twitter, spawning numerous tweets from across the Apex Legends community to get some attention on the game’s issues. It all began with a single tweet that was posted by content creator Sweetdreams.
Sweetdreams, a Twitch partner and member of the NRG organization as a content creator, tweeted about the “empty promises and false hope” that Respawn has given to the community. Sweetdreams also noted that Respawn needs to “Save Apex Ranked” before it is too late.
This rather short tweet was accompanied by a much longer link to a letter that the content creator wrote to the developer of Apex Legends. In general, the long letter is meant to describe some of the experiences that Sweetdreams and other players have had over the last few months in the battle royale title.
In particular, it focuses on the Diamond rank and higher players out there in the community and the cheaters that these talented players have to deal with regularly. According to the content creator, this is the eighth or ninth month of cheating and DDoSing in the ranked matches.
What the Sweetdreams’ Letter Stated
It goes through some lengthy backstory, talking about the servers in Singapore, Taiwan, and Japan. The cheaters were so rampant in every single ranked match that they had to switch servers to have some semblance of fairness in the highly competitive game mode.
According to Sweetdreams, this issue has spread to the other servers around the world for Apex Legends and that, at this point, streamers will log into the game each day for a stream only to hope that this day’s amount of cheaters will be less than it was the day before.
Interestingly enough, the content creator ended the long letter with a final thought about an idea to fix this problem. In general, the content creator proposes that hiring more people to help ban cheaters and implement better measures would go a long way towards fixing this issue.
However, the specific idea that Sweetdreams has is to give the “keys” to the top creators out there who are reputable in the community for the ability to ban cheaters as they come across them in streams.
Sweetdreams references the fact that some content creators already know a lot about what will happen in the future with Apex Legends. They have been trusted with that info, so it stands to reason that some streamers could be given the authority to ban cheaters and help with this issue.
The Trend Caught the Attention of Respawn
In the end, though, this Save Apex Ranked tweet was able to garner a massive amount of attention in the Apex Legends community, with more than 30,000 likes and 12,000 retweets at the time of writing this. That is a massive amount of reach. Moreover, it spawned the trend of Save Apex Ranked on Twitter.
More major Apex Legends content creators out there started to chime in with their thoughts on the matter, including players like Hakis, fellow NRG content creator Rogue, and more. Then, of course, there were plenty of tweets from everyone across the board in the Apex community.
Fortunately, this Save Apex Ranked trend was significant enough to get Respawn Entertainment to respond to the viral hashtag. The director of communications at Respawn, Ryan Rigney, has the top comment on the post right now with his statement on the matter.
Rigney noted some “valid complaints” in the letter, citing the fact that Respawn does need to start cracking down on the cheaters and making some real progress in this regard. But, in general, he agreed that actions are needed for this issue, not just words.
Save Apex Ranked Trend Leads to Some Possible Drama
However, he did not take kindly to the final line of the letter in which the content creator warned not to be fooled by tweets from Respawn about its intentions to fix these issues as the community has been reportedly “lied to.”
Rigney concluded his comment by noting that this is an “unproductive” line in the letter and a bum of a way to end it. But Sweetdreams fired back with another response, noting that the community has been “straight up lied to for like six months” and how that is what is unproductive.
Regardless of the possible drama that came out of this situation, the Save Apex Ranked trend was enough to gain the attention of Respawn and, hopefully, cause some real change in the end. However, this is something that will not be an immediate fix, so it could be a while until we start to see some new changes.
Fortunately, what Respawn could do now is to be transparent in its handling of the cheating situation in ranked mode thus far and give some concrete details about what it is going to do in the future. Some detailed plans about expanding the development team, anti-cheat solutions, and widespread banning would be a great way to address this problem.
