Samurai Shodown Reveals Baiken from Guilty Gear Arrives This Week
Samurai Showdown revealed today that a Guilty Gear character is coming to the game soon – It’s Baiken! What would an EVO weekend be without announcements? Now that the festivities are over, it’s time to look to the future of fighting games, and Samurai Shodown’s making a serious bid for notoriety. The latest iteration of Samurai Shodown keeps the Samurai aesthetic strong, so it’s no surprise that the Guilty Gear character of choice is Baiken. She fits the look of the game perfectly. She’s coming very soon, too!
Data Mined in March, Confirmed in August:
A rumor back in march teased that Samurai Shodown would be receiving a Guilty Gear crossover that ultimately was revealed to be Baiken. Judging by her look in the trailer, it seems she’s based on the Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2 appearance. This is also confirmed by the trailer showing it’s a Samurai Shodown x Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2 crossover. She’s been a staple in the series as a character going back to the first game as a boss.
We can see quite a few of her classic special moves in the trailer, such as the Yozansen (Air Slash), the Tatami Gaeshi (Mat Stomp), and her Claw and Cannon attacks. So she’s going to be the Baiken we already know and love, just in a different game – Samurai Shodown. SNK teased this over the weekend, but a leaked trailer came out pretty quickly. However, we can certainly confirm the reveal is real, thanks to a tweet by SNK within the last hour of this writing.
When can you get your hands on Baiken in Samurai Shodown? Thankfully, you don’t have to wait long. She drops on Thursday, August 19th – so this week! You can see the reveal trailer here, courtesy of SNK. She looks like she’ll fit in just fine with the hyper-aggressive Samurai Shodown gameplay. We can’t wait to see how she plays.
