Riot Games’ Pop Act K/DA Announces Their Comeback

by in Entertainment | Aug, 27th 2020

Nearly two years after their hit debut “Pop/Stars“, K/DA, comprised of League of Legends characters Ahri, Kai’Sa, Akali, and Evylynn, reached the top of the charts for not only a K-Pop act, but generally speaking as well. They reached the top of iTunes (#1 K-Pop Chart, #2 Pop Chart), Billboard (#1 World Digital), and 170M+ DSP streams. Its music video has reached 340M+ views to-date, making it one of the most successful K-Pop debuts in history.

Now K/DA is back with a new pre-release single, “The Baddest”, featuring (G)I-DLE, Bea Miller and Wolftyla.

First Single in Nearly Two Years

After stopping the show at Worlds 2018, many wondered if Riot would ever bring back their original K-Pop sensation for another round. Clearly, those worries were unfounded as K/DA returned with “The Baddest”, the third original song in a pop style from Riot.

This is only the beginning as it marks the lead up to Riot’s first EP, as well as their full comeback plans.

“Ever since K/DA premiered their explosive track POP/STARS at the 2018 League of Legends World Championships, fans always ask what’s next for the group,” said Toa Dunn, Head of Riot Games Music. “We can’t wait for everyone to hear the new track today, followed by the EP later in the year, which is packed with tons of surprises for League of Legends and K/DA fans to enjoy.”

According to the press release, the new efforts will not focus on just SOYEON and MIYEON from (G)I-DLE, Madison Beer, and Jaira Burns, but also new artists from around the world that will join K/DA in their return tour. The press release indicates that the full artist roster will be revealed on K/DA’s social media accounts soon.

“The Baddest” by K/DA marks Riot’s first effort since announcing their partnership with Spotify, where they will seek to leverage their brands to create unique music around their IPs, including League of Legends esports.

“Music and audio are an intrinsic part of our sport and game, so we are thrilled to partner with Spotify to provide our fans with another platform where they can enjoy the ultimate manifestation of League of Legends,” says Naz Aletaha, Head of Global Esports Partnerships, Riot Games. “As a disrupter in their space similar to Riot Games, Spotify allows us to collectively challenge the limits of possibility as we blend sports, technology, entertainment, and music to create iconic experiences and content that inspire generations.”

Additionally, they will create unique League of Legends esports experiences, including interviews, game highlights, podcasts, and more for their network.

June Sauvaget, Global Head of Consumer and Product Marketing, says, “Our partnership with Riot Games will create a first-of-its-kind audio universe for the millions of Spotify and League of Legends fans across the globe. As the exclusive—and first ever—global audio service partner for League of Legends, we plan to create a world-class audio-streaming experience for our users, making discovering both music and podcasts easier than ever before.”

Especially since some of this song is in Korean, we thought it was important to give you guys the full breakdown on the lyrics of K/DA’s “The Baddest”:

Lyrics for K/DA’s New Hit The Baddest

K/DA – The Baddest English Translation

Baddest do what the baddest do

The baddest do we the baddest ooh

Baddest do what the baddest do

The baddest do we the baddest

Coming at you live

Real real wild

Here to light it up

Set the world on fire

Gonna break rules

And hearts in twos

‘Cause that’s what the baddest do

Never going back

Nah not that

Diamonds on drip

‘Cause I came to make a splash

Gonna break rules

And hearts in twos

‘Cause that’s what the baddest do

I spit heat, I melt your face off

Disappear, I’m your eraser

In the cut just like a razor

Murder business, where my blazer?

I got all the boys on me

I got all the lines on ring

Knock ’em dead, turnin heads

I got all the eyes on me

Pretty face 걸어들어와

(I walk in with a pretty face)

유행 선두자

(Make ’em want a taste)

원하지만 못하잖아

(Boy slow down, you gone have to wait)

애가 타잖아

(Dangling the bait)

You like “whoa” KALI you the goat

난 알지 I know

(I’m like “yeah, I know”)

준비해 ’cause I like to ball

(Gotta bounce cause I like to ball)

멈추지 않아

(Man I’m on a roll)

나는 lit 크게 like a bit

(Keep it lit, mega like a bit)

그거 말고 byte

(I mean like a byte)

믿어바 큰만큼 크게

(Get it right, know I do it big)

어깨펴고 high

(I ain’t talking height)

백퍼센트 덤비지못해 죽여주잖아

(I’m legit, know I leave ’em dead)

나는 boss 간지 with the sauce

(I’m a boss, extra with the sauce)

원하면 줄게

(Give ’em what they like)

I’m doing damage

Went just how I planned it

I do what I want when I say

모두 날 따라해

(I’m making the news)

난 끝내주잖아

(But this ain’t nothing new)

(Like) to live on the edge of insane

Coming at you live

Real real wild

Here to light it up

Set the world on fire

Gonna break rules

And hearts in twos

‘Cause that’s what the baddest do

Never going back

Nah not that

Diamonds on drip

‘Cause I came to make a splash

Gonna break rules

And hearts in twos

‘Cause that’s what the baddest do

(It’s crazy)

Sorry for the bad news sorry I’m so bad

Only took a minute for me to get what you had

Sorry for the bad news know it makes you sad

I’ll be here for a minute baby you should pack your bags

Way that I look should be breaking the law

If I don’t got it I take what I want

My circle small like a round of applause

You know that I love the sound of applause

You know I mean everything that I say

When you see me coming get out of the way

I came to slay I came to slay

Back and I’m better and ready to stay

I’m doing damage

Went just how I planned it

I do what I want when I say

모두 날 따라해

(I’m making the news)

난 끝내주잖아

(But this ain’t nothing new)

(Like) to live on the edge of insane

(It’s crazy)

Sorry not sorry for being the best

언제든지 내가 쫌 해

(I came to stunt came to impress)

Look at the gold all on my chest

Look at the gold call it a flex
