Riot Games Announces Animated Series ‘Arcane’
Fans have been calling for a League of Legends animated series from Riot Games ever since the season three Worlds animation, and now that wish may be coming true.
During their 10th Anniversary Celebration Stream last night, Riot officially unveiled their new animated series Arcane, set to premiere sometime next year.
The new series, created by the same animation team behind the Get Jinxed and Rise music videos, will focus on the origin story of Vi and Jinx, at least judging from appearances. It may include cameos from Singed, Warwick, Ekko and other Piltover/Zaun champions given their relationship to the region.
An exact date for the premiere has yet to be announced, but judging by what we saw, it seems like it won’t be too late into next year. The platform the show will be available on hasn’t been announced either, though it was noted it would be an already existing one.
Finally, It’s Here
We’ve been waiting on a League of Legends animated series from Riot for years now to expand upon the lore, and we’re finally getting one.
Fans will get to see more of Vi and Jinx’s background and get an answer to how they got their signature tattoos.
The animation looks crisp, the dialogue sounds good and, depending on how it’s received, could open the way for a League cinematic universe.
Here’s hoping it takes off well.
Keep watching as we continue to cover everything Riot announced last night and more as League of Legends 10-year celebration continues.
