PUBG Panzerfaust Weapon Introduced Alongside Weapon Balancing in Update 6.3

by in PUBG | Mar, 11th 2020

With the release of the 12th season of PUBG Mobile and the celebration of its second anniversary since releasing, it is no surprise that there is some news for the main PUBG game as well. A new update dropped brought with it some surprising changes and additions including the new PUBG Panzerfaust weapon.

PUBG Update 6.3 Is Here on Test Servers

The PUBG update 6.3 version is now out on PC test servers for players to download. A significant update, as usual, this one comes with some new additions along with some unexpected but welcome and even necessary changes to the battle royale game.

Unfortunately, like updates before this one, it is only available on the test server on PC currently. Players on PC who want to enjoy all the changes need to download the separate test client version of the game. Players on PS4 and Xbox One can’t check it out at this time.

The patch notes nor the press release we received mention when 6.3 will launch for console and PC live servers. However, if past experiences have anything to say, it shouldn’t be more than a few weeks from now.

Until then, players can check out everything the PUBG update 6.3 patch notes have to offer from new additions to major changes to bug fixes and more. Players can also check out the brand-new weapon PUBG Panzerfaust weapon.

PUBG Panzerfaust Released in Update 6.3

Update 6.3 released only one major new addition to the popular battle royale game on the PC test servers: PUBG Panzerfaust weapon. It is unlike any weapon we have seen, even going so far as to introduce a new mechanic to the gunplay.

After teases throughout all the Season 6 gameplay videos released by the company, players can use the PUBG Panzerfaust in battle royale matches. The explosive missile launcher weapon is different from similar ones that exist in the game already.

For starters, exclusivity is an issue. The weapon is only available on a single map in battle royale currently. That map is the new fan favorite Karakin. This means that you can’t find it on Erangel, Miramar, or any of the others at this time.

The new PUBG Panzerfaust explosive weapon has another restriction, too. It takes up a primary weapon slot in the game, unlike other weapons. Because of this, your loadout will be severely limited by using this missile launcher in the game.

Players likely need to equip a powerful secondary weapon that they prefer to use in matches along with this. It will be restrictive in this way. Because of this and the way that the Panzerfaust works, it might not be for everyone that fights on Karakin.

Aside from all the negativity, there is a lot to love about the new PUBG Panzerfaust. It is an unbelievably powerful area of effect explosive weapon that will decimate a decent range with some serious damage to enemies and structures around.

The projectile launched from the weapon moves fast. However, it is possible to dodge it if you are the target. The Panzerfaust has an impressive damage radius of around six meters all around from the moment it impacts a point.

Also, it can deal some splash damage through thin walls and other objects on the map, up to a short distance from the initial impact point. Because of all this, it can successfully breach specific walls on the Karakin map, much like what the new sticky bomb explosive currently does.

In this way, that is likely the cause of why the PUBG Panzerfaust weapon is only on Karakin currently. The sticky bomb is another explosive item on the map since it is useful for breaching specific walls. Even still, the Panzerfaust is rather versatile.

Not only does it deal impressive damage to players and structures and used for breaching, but it has some versatility in how you can explode it, too. While it usually will explode upon impact with a player or wall or object, you can do this another way.

You can have the warhead that launches from the weapon explode mid-air if you want. However, it can only happen if it hits another explosion in the air or if shot by a bullet. In this way, you can make it explode earlier if you want by shooting at it.

This is not only an excellent way for surprising players who think they can get away. But it is an excellent defensive maneuver for someone targeted by it by making it blow up sooner and further away from them. Though exclusive to Karakin, it isn’t too hard to find it on the map.

It is an uncommon world spawn found across the map, so you will likely run across it just by randomly picking up floor loot. At the same time, though, you can guarantee to find one by checking an airdrop. The Panzerfaust is in every one of these on the map.

Unfortunately, due to the power of this insane explosive weapon, it is a one-time use warhead for now. Once you have fired the single warhead, it automatically drops the tube of the weapon and not pick it back up.

This means that you really must think before firing because you can’t reload and try again afterward simply. Also, you will need to be careful. There is a new mechanic to the PUBG Panzerfaust that we have never seen before with a weapon.

There is a bit of backblast to this weapon that you need to watch out for. Firing this weapon releases some backfire behind the player who shot it. Because of this, it damages anyone and anything in the small radius. It damages within a three-meter zone behind the weapon.

This can even damage your teammates if they stand too close behind you, so you should watch out and warn your teammates before using it. Lastly, there are zeroing options at 60, 100 (the default option), and 150 meters, giving a nice variety of firing options.

Major Weapon Balancing Changes

While the Panzerfaust is the only brand-new weapon in this update, some major weapon balancing changes happened to some existing items. Most of the changes are boosting some underpowered weapons. One is a massive departure, depending on how you look at it.

The first of these is for the Tommy Gun. Players in the community have long lamented how weak the Tommy Gun can be in battle royale. This update boosts it significantly. For starters, it has an increased rate of fire from 700 to now 750.

It also has increased firing accuracy, so that the bullets you shoot out will have less of a deviation penalty when you fire for an extended duration of time. The moving accuracy for it increased, too, for when you fire away while on the run.

Recoil decreases when firing for a lengthy period in the game all at once. This is also due to the increased rate of fire added in this update. Beyond the stat boosts, there is a change to how the Tommy Gun functions as a weapon, too.

Players now have access to the upper rail section of the gun, meaning that you can attach sights to it like the Red Dot and Holo Sights.

From there, the M249 is the second gun to get some major changes. This previously elusive weapon will now be a lot more common than it was before. You can find it outside of just care packages in the game as normal loot on Miramar and Erangel as a semi-rare spawn.

Some drawbacks to this change balance out the fact that it is a bit more common than it was before. The base bullet damage for the M249 decreased slightly from 45 to 40, while increased recoil makes it a bit harder to shoot.

But to help with this, you can add magazine and stock attachments to the weapon from now on. The tactical stock is one attachment that allows you to improve the stability of the weapon, given its increased recoil. The ammo capacity of it reduced to a base of 75.

However, you can add an extended magazine to it to make that go up to an ammo capacity of 150 with the attachment.

Lastly, the third major weapon to get an upgrade in this update is the UMP-45. The switch from 9mm has been hard on the weapon, but these changes should offset some of that. The base damage of the bullets increased from 39 to 41.

Also, the rate of fire has been increased from 650 to 670 to give a bit of a boost. The muzzle velocity increased as well, from 300 to 360, which is significant. This increases the speed of the bullets leaving the chamber, making it a bit easier to track moving targets.

To accompany these balancing changes, there are some general changes to the M249 and Tommy Gun modes and the firing sounds for them.

Improvements and Bug Fixes

As with any update to the battle royale game, there are some bug fixes and general improvements to the gameplay. It starts with the sticky bomb recently introduced to the title on Karakin. You can now use sticky bombs in training mode with an additional ringtone for it as well.

The visibility of nearby items on the ground improved by enhancing the glowing effect and adding a new pulsing effect. If you don’t like the pulse effect, you can disable it under the gameplay settings.

A static electric sound added to the Blue Zone wall provides players with an audible way of knowing that the harmful area is getting closer.

For the Team Deathmatch game mode, rich presence let your Discord and Steam friends know when you’re fragging. Also, when a player engages in combat, like firing on an enemy, the controversial invincibility feature instantly removes.

Lastly, for Team Deathmatch, the hockey for player reports is now disabled for one second after death to prevent players from accidentally reporting someone. You can find the full list of the bug fixes in update 6.3 below:
