PUBG Mobile’s Zombie Mode Released

The beta version of PUBG Mobile’s zombie mode is now available to players looking to rampage through the undead! The official name for this new game mode is Resident Evil 2 (RE 2): Sunset and it was added in the recent PUBG Mobile 0.11.0 beta update.

Tencent Games (developers of PUBG Mobile) and Capcom — the studio behind the recently released RE 2 Remake — announced a partnership in December 2018 that would bring RE 2 zombies (and other creatures) to PUBG Mobile.

Now players can finally experience PUBG Mobile’s zombie mode on the original PUBG map Erangel. RE 2: Sunset is a squads-only game mode, and it will feature just 60 players — though the full release is expected to allow 100 players. Teams will land at a specific area on Erangel (which is chosen by the game mode), and that will be the designated safe zone for players looking to endure the zombie apocalypse.

Afterward, your team will have to survive the onslaught of many different enemies to get that chicken dinner. Be prepared to fight off zombies, opposing players, and boss characters from RE 2 — such as the iconic Licker and Tyrant. Also, night will eventually come, and the number of zombies craving your brains will significantly increase, so be wary of the sun going down.

Fortunately, some help is offered to players looking to come out alive in PUBG Mobile’s zombie mode. There will be audio cues when zombies are approaching, and HUD arrows will show you which direction they are coming from at any given moment.

New and powerful weapons have been added to assist players with slaying zombies as well. First, there’s the classic flamethrower, which is great for incinerating whole groups of the undead. Next, players can get their hands on the M134 Minigun — a hefty Gatling gun that fires a lot of bullets really fast.

Finally, there’s a new combat knife, similar to the one found in RE 2, that will let players silently take out zombies without alerting enemy players.

So far, the reviews for the beta version of PUBG Mobile’s zombie mode are generally positive. And it will be interesting to see if zombies start to pop up on the PC/Console version of PUBG sometime soon.

As of right now, there has been no official announcement from Tencent about when RE 2: Sunset will be coming to the full version of PUBG mobile, but it is expected to be drop sometime in the beginning of February.
