Project 007 New Details Paint an Exciting Picture
IO Interactive’s Project 007 is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated games of this generation. Still, seeing how the whole project was veiled in secrecy from the very beginning, we didn’t have any concrete details to talk about — until now.
Granted, you don’t need to be a visionary to imagine what a James Bond video game made by IO will look like, but we still yearned for something tangible to sink our teeth into — something that would make the wait a bit easier to handle.
Fortunately, thanks to a couple of job openings on IO’s official website (for AI Programmer and Audio Director), we’ve found out that Project 007 will be a third-person “sandbox storytelling game” with elements of espionage and action.
Not that anyone’s surprised.
Huge Changes to AI
The more interesting bit is that IO will be looking to implement a “cutting edge” AI framework that will make NPCs noticeably more sentient and, by proxy, dangerous for our protagonist. Seeing how these are the folks who’ve cut their teeth with the entire Hitman series, we’re inclined to believe they’ll deliver! Moreover, is there any other studio out there in the world that might be better equipped to tackle such a legendary intellectual property? You’d truly be hard-pressed to think of one.
It’s a match made in heaven, and if they deliver in the same way as they did with Hitman 3, they’ll no doubt have an absolute winner on their hands — a title whose success will be measured in both profit and critical acclaim.
Players will be able to earn their 00 status in this wholly original Bond story, one that will show off his early days and missions, back when he was still rough around the edges and eager to prove himself. There’s still no concrete release date at the time of this writing, but we’re guessing Project 007 will see the light of day sometime in 2022, probably near the holiday season.
