PMGC 2021 Grand Finals Will Include an Invited, Currently Unknown Indian Team

The PUBG Mobile Global Championship is the crown jewel of the competitive year for the mobile battle royale game; the place where the world champion team will be determined. The upcoming event will also have a PMGC India team that will be competing with the very best.
India Team Will Compete in the PMGC 2021
This surprising, but welcome, announcement came on the PUBG Mobile Esports Twitter page this week where the organization revealed that the biggest event of the year is going to begin very soon. In fact, it will be kicking off later this week with the best teams around the world battling it out.
However, while the upcoming start of the Global Championship event is exciting enough on its own, the more shocking part of the reveal is the fact that there is going to be an PMGC India team that will be competing for the chance to be the world champion of mobile battle royale.
This team is currently unknown for now, but we do at least know that they will be coming from India and represent the entire country in the upcoming Global Championship event. As for why the currently unknown PMGC India team will be competing, it comes down to a number of factors.
For one, there is the fact that there is going to be a single invitation slot only that will be in the PUBG Mobile Global Championship 2021, and until now, it was not known what it would be used for. Now we know that it will be used to allow for an Indian team to compete against teams from other regions of the world.
How Will the India Team Be Chosen?
The single Grand Finals invitational slot is being given to an undisclosed PMGC India team, but we have some ideas about how this process will work. Of course, randomly picking just one team from the country would be pretty unfair, so it is presumed that it will be tied into some sort of accomplishment.
It seems likely that the India team will be selected based on who the winning team of the upcoming Battlegrounds Mobile India 2021 tournament is going to be. That major event is the first significant series for the recently released game that fixed the issue of India’s ban on PUBG Mobile.
It would not be surprising if the champion of that event is invited to the PMGC 2021 Grand Finals as they would have certainly earned the right at that point in time. This would be a great way to recognize a team that is truly worthy of standing on the world stage and usher back in the battle royale esports for India in a major way.
Of course, if that is truly the case, we will not find out who the PMGC India team will be until next year as the Battlegrounds Mobile India event will conclude in January. Soon after that, the Grand Finals will begin and the new (or returning) world champion will be determined.
How the PMGC 2021 Format Will Work
Until then, the players and fans around the world have a lot to look forward to over the course of the next month and a half or so. It all begins this week with the start of the PMGC 2021 and the League that will be one of the major parts of the journey to finding out the champion.
There are several different leagues that will happen for the PMGC, starting with the East League that will feature the different regional tournaments from Southeast Asia, the Middle East, South Asia, East Asia, and China. They will compete against one another until the top 16 teams from each individual region have been decided.
On the other hand, you have the West League that will have its own two events: one for Europe and another for the Americas. Like the other regions, both of these will compete in their individual regions against the best teams from there until the top 16 have been chosen.
The first part of the PMGC will happen until December 19 from the top 16 West League teams and top 16 East League teams are chosen. Once this has happened, the East League Finals will begin at the same time as the West League Finals and run from December 22-24.
The India Team Will Join the Top 15 Teams for the Grand Finals
The two finals will conclude at the end of the year with the top nine teams from the East League and the top six teams from the West League. Given the sheer number of teams and regions that are competing in the East League, it is understandable that there are more teams that will come out of it.
Put together, though, that is only 15 teams that are from both regions, with the final spot being filled by the PMGC India team, whichever team that ends up being. The PUBG Mobile Global Championships 2021 will conclude with the Grand Finals January 21-23, 2022 where the number one team will be chosen and we will have our world champion for the next year.
The PUBG Mobile Global Championship 2021 is shaping up to be a very important one as the latest world championship event and the return of India to the global stage. At the same time, it is also possibly one of the last championships for the mobile battle royale game on this scale.
Though it has not been revealed at this time, there is a chance that the 2022 championship could be using PUBG New State. With its release just a few weeks ago, it is likely that it will overtake PUBG Mobile in the future as the main mobile battle royale game from the Krafton series. For now, though, we will just have to wait and see.
