Overwatch Mardi Gras Event Goes Live on February 25
Seasonal events are always a fantastic excuse to log in and queue up for a couple of games! This time around, we have a brand-new one: Overwatch Mardi Gras! If you’ve been playing regularly, then this event won’t bring anything fundamentally different.
What You Can Get in Mardi Gras Event
You need to get up to nine wins in Quick Play, Competitive, or Arcade to earn event-specific icons, a spray, and an epic Mardi Gras Ashe skin.
Getting three wins nets you two unique icons. The golden mask spray for six wins isn’t much to write home about, but the Epic skin for nine wins certainly is. It’s currently one of Ashe’s best skins, and B.O.B. doesn’t look half bad either!
You can also watch Twitch streamers during or between matches to unlock even more goodies! Just don’t forget to link your Blizzard and Twitch accounts. Otherwise, you won’t be eligible for any Twitch Drops.
To connect both accounts, you need to log in on Twitch and then go to the Connections page. Once there, click on “Connect” next to Blizzard Battle.net and follow the instructions. That’s pretty much it!
New Things on the Horizon for Overwatch
All in all, nine wins for so many cosmetics sounds like a good deal. You can also grind in the experimental triple DPS mode that’s being released alongside the Overwatch Mardi Gras event. The mode itself might not be your cup of tea, but it’s a fun and engaging way to cool off from competitive play. The fact that you can still earn all cosmetics mentioned above is just icing on the cake.
Finally, we suggest you look at the third season of the Overwatch League that’s currently underway. With role lock in place, the game has never been this exciting and fluid meta-wise, which is, as expected, resulting in some of the best and most entertaining competitive play yet.
All things considered, it feels like Blizzard is finally making all the right moves. Role queue, experimental modes, a more frequent patch cycle, seasonal events, and Overwatch 2 in the pipeline are just some of the things that have infused the game and its community with new-found life.
