Overwatch Announces New Control Map Busan
Blizzard Entertainment and its competitive shooter, Overwatch, has announced the release of a new control map, Busan, that is currently live on public test rooms. The map was announced at the Overwatch Fan Festival in South Korea. Busan is set in Busan, South Korea and is themed after the character D.Va.
There are three different locations that players can fight at in the new Busan map. There is the sanctuary area that allows players to battle at a traditional Korean temple, while the second area is the downtown area. Downtown is a modern center of Busan and includes a PC bang, light rail station with a train, and a karaoke bar. The last location of the Busan map is the MEKA base. This is where D.Va and her team helped save the city from the Omnic threat shown in an animated short called “Shooting Star.”
The animated short goes into detail about the life of D.Va as she faces off against the Omnic attacks. There is also a glimpse of her own personal life with her mech and a friend. Please check out the full animated short here.
If you don’t have Overwatch and you are looking for a new game or have always been intrigued by playing Overwatch, well this weekend will be perfect for you. Overwatch is free to play from August 23-27 on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Users will have access to all 28 heroes, including newly released Wrecking Ball, and all 18 maps that you can play in various game modes. Players will also level up and earn loot boxes and will keep your progress if you decide to purchase the game after the free weekend runs out. The free weekend will go live at 2 p.m. EDT on Thursday, August 23.
It’ll be interesting to see the feedback from the community on Busan. Having played the map once, I truly enjoyed the level and found it very fun and competitive at the same time. The map is expected to go live and join the map rotation in the next few months.
On another side note with Overwatch and announcements, yesterday on Twitter they released a sneak preview of Overwatch and Legos. The tweet showed the outline of six overwatch characters in Lego form. This would leave one to believe that you’ll likely see Overwatch Legos in stores soon, as they recently came out with Overwatch nerf guns too.
