The team is made up of the former female roster of Keyd Stars. The roster and the organization parted ways earlier this year. During their time together the earned multiple first-place finishes, including three first-place wins in 2018.
“We want to keep looking towards international efforts for OpTic. Because that is kind of the future of esports. We want to be able to say that we are a global brand and a global company,” OpTic Gaming assistant GM Nick “Ashes” Ridgeway said in the tweeted video.
Shibuya said in the intro video that the goal for OpTic Brasil is to be in the top tier leagues for male and female in Brazil. They want to become the best throughout all of Brazil.
This is the third international market that OpTic Gaming has tapped into in recent months. Their first acquisition was OpTic India. The organization created and recruited an Indian CS:GO roster after trials. OpTic’s second international team is now called OpTic Mexico, and it is an all-Mexican Gears of War team.
OpTic’s main CS:GO team is made up of an all-Danish roster and currently competing at the FACEIT Major: London 2018. They dropped the first-round match to Liquid Gaming in the Challenger’s stage but has since picked up a win in round two against Virtus.pro. The top eight teams advance from the Challenger’s stage to the Legend’s stage.
