OG Enters CS:GO with an All-Star Line-Up
It looks like Evil Geniuses aren’t the only org entering the CS:GO space. Famed player-owned organization OG looks to be trying to get in on the action.
According to NeL, the back-to-back International winning team will be entering the scene with a line-up consisting of NBK from Vitality, Aleksib from ENCE, Valde from North, ISSAA from ex-HR, and Jampii from minor team SJ Gaming. It goes without saying that this new OG CS:GO roster could easily become a powerhouse within the scene.
The move follows Aleksib turning down a million-dollar offer from Complexity last week. He hinted at massive contracts coming out of OG for this squad. It comes as a rather big surprise considering many had linked NBK and Aleksib to 100 Thieves’ new roster.
What’s a Thief to Do?
Now having missed out on Aleksib and NBK, along with losing the NRG squad to EG, 100 Thieves finds themselves in a somewhat awkward situation trying to put together a roster.
With orgs like Complexity, TSM, Misfits, and Dignitas fighting or rumored to be scouting for strong rosters, it’s getting harder for 100 Thieves to find an NA squad that can be competitive at the top level.
They may have to move to EU to find a team that can compete. Given their entire org is based in NA and how difficult it can be for teams to qualify for major events in a stacked region, that move may not be ideal.
The best they could hope for is to buy out the still Immortals-held OpTic squad. That may not be such a bad thing considering how much they’ve been stepping up lately.
We’ll have to wait and see how things shake-up in the coming weeks, but this can’t be going as 100 Thieves planned it to.
Who is OG ?
OG is a player-owned org created back in 2015 by several former players of Team Secret and their friends under the name of (monkey) Business.
After dominating the European Circuit, the team renamed to OG and, after several roster changes, stormed their way through the Dota pro circuit. The team won back-to-back Internationals in 2018 and 2019, earning the squad more than $27 million in prizes.
This new OG CS:GO roster should make a good addition to the org and, potentially, could be the beginning of OG getting involved in even more esports titles.
