Official Knockout City Tournament Announced, 5,000 Dollars Up for Grabs
With Knockout City coming up on its ninth week now of Season 3, it’s time to start looking ahead at Season 4 of the game. Much like last season, Knockout City’s Midnight Madness is going to start on the first day of the season on November 30th, and roll all the way into the last day on December 6th. With Season 4 right around the corner, it looks like Velan is cooking up something special. Being that the game is doing very well, players have made enough noise to get the game recognized for Best Multiplayer at the Game Awards. To celebrate, Velan is hosting their own tournament to close out Knockout City Season 3 entitled Midnight Knockout.
Midnight Knockout Tourney
Velan is hosting the Midnight Knockout Tourney, with players from all around being able to jump in on the fun. The tournament is scheduled to run from December 3rd to December 5th. P will have to make sure that they’re in a team of three before signing up, and while they can have another sub for the game, once they play their first match, that is the team they are going to have to finish with.
The tournament is going to run for both the EU and NA, so players from all around the world are going to be able to participate. However, players in the EU are going to be playing a day early in the tournament. The tournament for the EU is going to run from Dec 2nd. To Dec 4th.
How The Tournament Works
Players will sign up on the tournament’s Smash.GG page. Sign-ups for the Knockout City tournament ends on November 30th, at 11 pm EST. Once a team is signed in, they’re going to be locked in as a team, and one sub is allowed.
The rules for the match are Team Elimination, which is the game’s current League mode. For those who are unfamiliar, two teams of three are going to fight one another in a closing ring around a map. The ring will deplete health points and despawn balls. Players will have to fight each other, and once a player is KO’d they’ll be out of the match until the round is over. Whoever manages to wipe a team three times will win the round. The first to win two of three rounds wins.
There are going to be two tournaments for the full competition: Qualifiers, and Finals. For NA, on December 3rd, all teams will compete in qualifiers, which is going to be double elimination. Players who lose in the first bracket are going to be moved to the losers bracket. The top four teams from the winners and losers are going to be finalists.
On December 5th, players will compete in the finals bracket, which is going to be the same game mode, but instead of double elimination, it’s going to be single elimination with a best of three games and not a best of one. Players will then compete to win the top prize. With a prize pool of $5000, there’s a lot of prizes to hand out.
Prizes for Winning
For those who manage to stick it out and beat the competition to the finals, the winners are going to receive a share of the $5000 prize pool. Here’s what all the prizes are for the winners of the Knockout City tournament.
The first-place winners, they’ll receive a total of $2100, and 5000 Holobux apiece. This totals out to $700 and 5000 Holobux per player.
The second-place Team will receive $300 and 2500 Holobux apiece, totaling out to $100 and 2500 Holobux per player.
The third-place Team will receive $100, and 2500 Holobux apiece, totaling out at $33 and 2500 Holobux per player.
Fourth-place will receive 2500 Holobux per player, 5th-16th will receive 1000 Holobux a player, and 17th-32nd place will receive 500 Holobux per player.
The top four teams will also receive a special player icon to use in the game to show their prowess as a player in Midnight Knockout.
Players who think they have what it takes to make it through the Midnight Knockout tourney should sign up now. There’s still time to join in and prepare to show other players who they’re dealing with when the time comes for brawlers to hit the streets. Hopefully, this start of another official tournament is going to help bring the team-based dodgeball game further into the esports mainstream.
