New Hearthstone Paladin Saviors of Uldum Cards Revealed

Blizzard hosted the weekly Hearthstone Grandmasters competition this past weekend for fans to enjoy as some of their favorite pro players took one another on in some friendly competition. But the most recent Grandmasters was also special for hosting something other than professional matches.

After some teases late last week, Blizzard revealed some new cards from the upcoming Saviors of Uldum expansion at the Grandmasters event on Sunday, July 14. Three new cards, to be exact, were revealed, which is no surprise since the initial email sent out showed three hidden cards.

What is surprising, though, is the content of these three new cards coming to the beloved card battling game. The Paladin class got some serious love this past weekend as not one, not two, but all three of the newly revealed cards were shown off exclusively for that class.

Sorry, fans of all eight other classes, as this past weekend was all about the Paladin class. Three new Paladin Saviors of Uldum cards were revealed during the Grandmasters competition, giving us a decent idea of what the class will be like in the upcoming expansion.

Brazen Zealot Card Revealed and Details

The first card is the Brazen Zealot minion card. This is by far potentially the best card revealed of the three as well as easily one of the greatest, if not the greatest, one mana minion cards in the entire game to date. This is great news for Paladin fans since the class hasn’t been its best lately.

The Paladin class has been known to be an aggro-centric class for the most part over the years but the most recent expansion Rise of Shadows wasn’t too kind to the class. The class experienced a drop in quality but it seems that this will, thankfully, be changing with the new Paladin Saviors of Uldum cards.

As mentioned already, Brazen Zealot costs only one mana to summon, meaning it can be a card you open within your very first turn. It already has decent stats to begin with, having two attack and one health. But where it truly shines is in its special ability.

Every single time that you summon another minion while Brazen Zealot is on the field, the minion card will receive plus one to attack. Suddenly, you can find yourself having a minion with seven attack that only cost you one mana to summon.

The downside of the card is, of course, its limited health. As such, it will result in most players wanting to take it out first as soon as they see it on the field. But with some key cards used to keep it alive, this could be one modest minion who could be a force to be reckoned with.

In addition, while you might think Brazen Zealot would work best as an early game addition to the field, it could work wonders in the endgame as well. Just imagine waiting until you have more mana in the latter half of the match then summoning it first then summoning a few more low-costing minions in the same turn.

Sandwasp Queen Details

But Brazen Zealot isn’t the only new card that gives hope for the Paladin class this expansion. Two more Paladin Saviors of Uldum cards were revealed during the Grandmasters event this past weekend. The next card that was revealed is called Sandwasp Queen.

Sandwasp Queen is yet another low-costing minion card that you will want to add to your deck. It also continues the trend of bees and wasps with this expansion as we have seen with other recently revealed cards like the BEEEES!!! card from the Druid class.

Sandwasp Queen only costs two mana to summon but will be annoying one to deal with, especially when paired with Brazen Zealot and other minions. The Sandwasp Queen has three attack and only one health but it has a solid Battlecry ability that makes up for the lack of health.

When you summon Sandwasp Queen to the battlefield, you will get two Sandwasp cards added to your hand that have two attack and one health each. Presumably, these Sandwasps will only have one mana to summon each of them, meaning you only need two more mana to suddenly have a swarm of these wasps on the field in one turn.

When paired with Brazen Zealot, you can begin to see the devastating early game tactics for that card. You could use Brazen Zealot in your first turn then summon Sandwasp Queen in your second and in your third, summon the two Sandwasps.

Suddenly, within three turns, your Brazen Zealot could have five attack plus three more minions your opponent would have to contend with. That’s barring the mid to late game strategy of doing all of those at once within the same turn, giving you some overwhelming firepower.

Salhet’s Pride Revealed Plus Details

Regardless, those aren’t the only Paladin Saviors of Uldum cards that were revealed. A final card was shown off during Grandmasters called Salhet’s Pride. This lion minion card adds even more depth to the aggro Paladin deck that adds onto the other two cards.

Salhet’s Pride costs a little more than the previous two cards, requiring three mana to summon. It comes with less than average stats of only three attack and one health but its ability is where it more than makes up for that. This is a card that is meant to die soon after summoning.

Salhet’s Pride’s Deathrattle ability is only activated upon its defeat on the field and it allows you to immediately draw two minions from your deck that only have one health, too. Salhet’s Pride is a sacrificial lamb of sorts that opens the door for some insane aggro combos.

For starters, its Deathrattle ability makes it so that you can get Sandwasp Queen and Brazen Zealot into your hand instantly. Better yet, you could put more than one Salhet’s Pride into your deck and use the first one’s Deathrattle ability to bring out another one and keep the low-cost minion party going.

When paired with Sandwasp Queen, you could quickly overwhelm your enemy with a full field of minions within just a few short turns of the match. In addition, if you are able to get Brazen Zealot onto the field early on, that card will have increased attack for each minion you bring unto the field.

Thus far, the new Paladin Saviors of Uldum cards are shaping up to be some of the best aggressive minion cards yet for the class. This upcoming expansion holds lots of promise for Paladin players so be sure to stay tuned for more card announcements in the future.

We won’t have to wait long for more card reveals and the expansion’s release either as it is set to come out in less than a month on August 6, 2019.
