New Challengers Stage Recap, KNgV Move Confirmed, More – CS:GO Daily Recap 8/27/2019
Welcome back everyone to another exciting day of CS:GO news! Today we’ve got at a rather surprising source confirming KNgV’s roster move, a look at the drama surrounding Mousesports’ Woxic and his mouse, a quick recap of The New Challengers Stage at the Berlin Major, and more.
As always, we’ve got a lot to cover today, so let’s dive on in.
Mother Knows Best
Our first stop today is over to Brazil, where we got confirmation on KNgV’s roster move to MIBR after the Berlin Major from none other than the man’s mother.
The move was already widely known throughout the community, but no official confirmation from any party had been made yet, so seeing his mother be the one to break the news is both cute and hilarious.
Woxic Mouse Problems
Speaking of the Berlin Major, drama erupted there over the weekend after trouble surrounding Mousesports player Woxic, who had game-delaying issues with his mouse over the weekend at the event.
The drama erupted during Mousesports match against Russian team ForZe on the first day of the tournament when Woxics mouse gave out, forcing him to use a five Euro mouse as a replacement for the rest of the match.
Woxic and the team went on to win the match as he would got a new mouse thanks to one of the casters, but not before he voiced his dismay at the difficulties of using such a cheap mouse to play.
Thorin quickly pounced on the young Turk on Twitter, calling him out for not having a second mouse, a sentiment shared by many others in the community, to which Woxic responded by telling Thorin he didn’t ask for sympathy.
The situation brought up an interesting debate: who is to blame for a broken peripheral? The organizers for not having back-ups? The shop Woxic went to that didn’t have the correct mouse? The team for not preparing backups?
It’s an interesting dilemma for sure, and one that will likely continue to brew in the community for some time.
The New Challengers Stage
Taking a step back to look at the Major as a whole, we saw a lot of teams disappoint in The New Challengers Stage this time around.
DreamEaters looked incredibly sloppy with their aggression throughout the stage, while CR4ZY was painful to watch at times with their blown leads and failed to capitalize on man advantages.
Both teams managed to make it out to The New Legends Stage, so we’ll see if they can shape up before that starts, but it’s looking rather likely this will be as far as they go in Berlin.
Tyloo also continued to disappoint fans here, as the team didn’t manage a single win in their 0-3 knockout out of the Major, proving once again why you don’t change half your line-up before a big tournament.
Furia also looked rather poor, especially after just signing their players to a five-year contract in June. Hopefully, they can get it figured out before the next big event they go to, otherwise they’re going to be sitting on a rather expensive dud for a while.
On the more positive side of the New Challengers Stage, Grayhound gave a good run to almost make it out of the stage, taking world number two Vitality all the way to a close game three to decide who’d get the last spot to the next stage of the tournament.
It’ll be interesting to see where they go from here, especially with Ekast leaving for a full Mongolian squad, who will they get to fill his empty spot?
North and G2 also looked good in the New Challengers Stage, though they did have relatively easy opponents to get there.
Friberg Leaves Heroic and Goodbye Ancient
We also got word today that Friberg is indeed leaving Heroic following the departure of NaToSaphiX from the squad.
Which roster he will end up on remains unknown, but we at least know it isn’t going to be Fnatic.
Lastly, we also must sadly say goodbye to Team Ancient today, as the Swedish roster has officially disbanded as of Sunday.
Hopefully, the players find some good new homes for themselves on other teams, especially Draken, who is once again teamless.
That’s all we have for today, thanks for reading. We’ll be back tomorrow with more CS:GO news, so stay tuned!
