Myth Has Meltdown While Talking About Fortnite on Mizkif’s Podcast

It’s not easy to be a streamer, no matter what anyone tells you. Sure, it’s easy to run OBS and play games for a crowd, but it’s not easy to dedicate yourself to just one title, in good times or bad. Shoehorning yourself into playing just one game, like say, Fortnite, might become a chore, and no longer interesting. You’re going to have a large part of your audience who will only come out for that. That was me, with Smite. But Myth recently talked Fortnite with Mizkif and talked about his decision to stream more than Fortnite after all.

He didn’t make the decision lightly. However, for his mental well-being and how Fortnite handles updating the game (RE: Not updating it nearly often enough), it sounds like a good decision for him. We aren’t’ going to say “Oh hey, Fortnite is dying! LOL”, but there are other options for games to stream, and they ought to keep an eye on that, perhaps.

Variety Is the Spice of Life

TSM’s very own Myth was on the Who Is Podcast, hosted by Mizkif. He spoke about his decision to become a variety streamer, instead of only playing Fortnite. His reasons were sound and pretty telling on how Fortnite’s Epic Games is doing things.

The meltdown he went under seemed comedic and might have been to play up how he feels. Myth made a statement about why he made this choice to move away from Fortnite. “When you hit a four-month dry patch of the game not fucking updating at all, or just putting in zero content and then not communicating at all, it becomes super, like, draining, super de-motivating, to keep going on and playing that game every single day,” Myth said.

“And then, and then, after that four-month period of no content, they drop Season 2—poogers,” he goes wild-eyed and perhaps looking a bit mad, which was much funnier than it should have been. “And then what happens in Season 2? There’s no new content. There’s no f***ing new content. They take four items, five, six items, recycle them, and then guess what? Then they just do stat changes. They statistically change the weapons, make them Mythic, and then guess what? It’s the same shit. So yeah, sometimes you get a little bit crazy.”

Now, Fortnite Season 2 is new still, but it’s shocking. You’d think that Epic Games would get their major streamers together and let them know what to expect, to keep them on board. If there’s going to be a dry patch without new content for months, the people making a living off the game, and helping keep Fortnite relevant would need to know, Myth and all others.

It’s honestly disappointing. The clip we saw of Myth exclaiming how disappointed and burnt out he seemed to be was a fascinating look into the Fortnite-turned-variety streamer’s insight. Variety streaming is great, personally. You don’t always know what you’re going to get. However, if you’re tuning in to a streamer for their personality and content, it should always be a good time.
