Wizards of the Coast has announced the Magic: The Gathering Mythic Championship VII date and location. This will be the final Mythic event of the season, which we already knew about, but now we know when we can see all of the glorious action happen.

MTG Mythic Championship VII Date and Location

MTG Mythic Championship VII will be held in Long Beach, California and will be using the Standard Constructed match format in MTG Arena. The final Mythic event will be focused on the digital video game version of the popular card game rather than the tabletop physical cards as you might expect.

It will be taking place the weekend of December 6-8, 2019. That may seem really late in the year for a major event like this, especially given its close proximity to the Magic World Championship, but it will be a great way to bring the year almost to its end in terms of the competitive scene.

The MTG Mythic Championship VII will have a pretty sweet prize pool of $750,000 in total to boot as well, offering some sweet rewards for the players who will be in attendance there. As always, it will be streamed live on the official Twitch channel for the game so you can see all of the action for yourself.

MTG Mythic Championship VII General Details

Interestingly enough, the Mythic Championship VII won’t have too many players participating in the tournament compared to the tabletop versions of the event. There will be 68 players in attendance, 32 of which will be the Pro League players and the other 36 being the challengers at the event.

How the challengers are picked is based on a number of factors including doing well at the qualifier tournaments, specific invites, and other ways. The first day of the tournament will feature only 64 of the 68 players competing in the digital tournament online.

This is because four of the Pro League players will have an automatic bye to day two of the event. The 64 players who compete in day one will play through several Modified Swiss rounds to determine who the top 24 players are who will move onto day two.

Day two will see the four players who weren’t participating in the day one festivities join in with the other 24 and battle it out in yet more Modified Swiss rounds of play digitally. From there, only eight players will be selected to make it to day three of the event for the finals.

They will battle it out on day three in a double elimination tournament format. Losers will move to the losers bracket while the winners will stay in the winners bracket. The winners of the winners and losers brackets will battle it out in the grand finals.

The winner of the grand finals will be getting some sweet rewards in exchange for their skill against the competition. They will receive a massive chunk of the prize pool with $100,000 as well as 50 Mythic points. In addition, they will get an invite to the World Championship that also takes place in December.

With Mythic Championship IV just finished, there is still a while to wait for the next tournament. The fifth tournament in the series will be happening October 18-20 and will also feature the digital game. Mythic VI, on the other hand, will be the last tabletop event and happen November 8-10 in Richmond, Virginia.

Players can look forward to Mythic Championship VII happening near the end of this year in Long Beach, California on December 6-8, 2019. Stay tuned for the full recap and results from the remaining three Mythic events.
