MTG Arena War of the Spark Chronicles Momir Event Starts Soon
The Magic: The Gathering Arena War of the Spark Chronicles Momir event is set to kick off very soon. How soon? May 23, 2019 to be exact. The event will run for five weeks in total, throughout the rest of May and most of June.
What’s interesting, though, is that the event will be constantly changing each week to have something new. The event is broken up into five different parts that will offer something new each week for players to come back and check out.
The first part of the MTG Arena War of the Spark Chronicles Momir event kicks off May 23 with part one called Ravnica at War. Ravnica at War will feature the Momir play format that is much different than the usual match style that you might be familiar with.
MTG Arena Momir Details
Momir is an unusual version of matches in which you don’t even really need to have a traditional deck of any kind. You, basically, just have a bunch of land cards from across all five colors and that’s it. The purpose of this specific match style is pretty much randomness.
Each turn, you have the ability to select Momir and you will then have the option to use up however much mana you want as well as discard a card. Then, the game will select a random creature from across the entire game to summon that has the same mana cost as whatever you selected.
It’s pretty crazy both in theory and in execution. You have no clue whatsoever what you will get when you use the Momir method, but that’s part of the fun in it. You can always try to stack up with low cost creatures on the field or save up and go all out, risking it all for a game-changing high cost creature.
Momir is an extremely bizarre match style, but it can be super fun as well when not taken too seriously like the rest of MTG Arena. However, the fun isn’t over there, though. The MTG Arena War of the Spark Chronicles Momir event will feature one extra twist on the standard Momir formula.
During Ravnica at War, players will also receive one copy of all 36 new Planeswalkers that were introduced with the latest War of the Spark expansion. This will allow for even greater risk and reward, as the addition of the Planeswalkers will add even more strategy to the mode.
The MTG Arena War of the Spark Chronicles Momir event will be available for free to all players in the game when it drops. The event will last for around a week or so from May 23 to May 31. Different from other recent events, players won’t have a loss record in this event.
This is great since other events would prevent players from being able to continue accessing it once they reached two or three losses during the event. Thankfully, you can play this upcoming event as many times you want for the duration no matter how many losses you have.
MTG Arena War of the Spark Chronicles Momir Rewards
This is especially great since there are some pretty unique and amazing rewards that you can get for free through the event. There are special prizes available depending on how many wins you get during the week-long event of Ravnica at War.
There are prizes available at three wins, six wins, and so on for every three wins until the final reward at 15 wins total. That is a lot of wins for one week that you will need to get in order to receive all of the rewards, but thankfully, you won’t have to worry about losing.
You can simply keep playing as much or as little as you want during the week of the event until you get the rewards that you are looking for. Three of the rewards that you can get are special stained glass versions of Planeswalker cards in the game.
These are unique cards that, quite frankly, look really amazing and are totally worth vying for, especially if you use these cards regularly. Note that none of the stained glass versions affect gameplay, but are strictly for cosmetic purposes only.
At three wins during the MTG Arena War of the Spark Chronicles Momir event, you will receive the Vraska Swarm’s Eminence stained glass cosmetic card style. From there, if you can make it to six wins, you will receive some gold as a reward.

At nine wins total, you will get the second stained glass card and that one is the Tibalt Rakish Instigator stained glass card. Once you get 12 wins in the event, you will get another reward of gold. Last but certainly not least, if you happen to reach 15 wins in that week, you will get the Jace Wielder of Mysteries stained glass card style.
What’s even better is that all of this information is solely regarding the very first part of the event, Ravnica at War. There are still four more weeks to go from here, full of awesome rewards and matches for players to take on. Like we mentioned, week one will take place from May 23 through May 31.
Week two, called No Escape, will be a Pauper style event instead of Momir and will take place from May 31 through June 7. Week three is the Singleton style event that is called Storm the Citadel and it will take place from June 7 to June 14.
The fourth week of the event will be Commence the Endgame and it will take place June 14 through June 21, offering a Counters style event. Last but not least, the fifth and final week of the MTG Arena War of the Spark Chronicles event will offer a Ravnica Constructed style event called Gideon’s Sacrifice and will last from June 21 to June 28.
Here’s a reminder that all five weeks will be free to all players in Magic: The Gathering Arena.
