MTG Arena Patch 0.15 June Breakdown

by in General | Jun, 13th 2019

Wizards of the Coast has released the monthly update for Magic: The Gathering Arena. The June update bumps the game up to MTG Arena patch 0.15. Unfortunately, MTGA is still an open beta product as it hasn’t reached the full release, hence, the number for this patch.

MTG Arena patch 0.15 brings with it tons of changes and additions that are integral to players who are actively playing the game right now. There are major changes for the War of the Spark Chronicles limited time event, store changes as always, and the expected bug fixes for general gameplay.

War of the Spark Chronicles Event Changes

We are right in the middle of the War of the Spark Chronicles event this month and it has five weeks of special content for players to enjoy. Each week, there is something new for players to take on with a new limited time match format like Pauper and Singleton.

Well, with the release of MTG Arena patch 0.15, things are changing up just in time for the final two weeks of the War of the Spark Chronicles limited time event. Both the required number of wins and the rewards themselves are changing up from what they’ve been for the last three weeks.

The new rewards and required wins for them are as follows:

  • 3 Wins: first Glass Style
  • 5 Wins: 200 Gold
  • 7 Wins: second Glass Style
  • 10 Wins: third Glass Style

Wizards of the Coast has removed one of the rewards that was more gold and, in return, reduced the required number of wins for all three glass card styles to be only 10 wins rather than 15 and combined the gold rewards. The reason behind this huge change for only the last two weeks of the event is due to player feedback.

The developer was told by fans that they were feeling “burnt out” regarding the required amount of time it took each week to get the necessary 15 wins to get everything. The total amount of the rewards are exactly the same but it takes less wins to receive them.

This is to ensure that players don’t miss out on the “fun” of the event as a result of devoting so much time to trying to get all of the rewards. In addition, if you missed out on some of the previous glass card styles that were offered in previous weeks, you will get the chance to purchase them with gold after the release of Core Set 2020.

Core Set 2020 Pre-Order Bonus

Chandra Awakened Inferno MTG Card

Speaking of the Magic Core Set 2020, there is now a pre-order bonus for a limited time only for players who buy it right now ahead of its release next month. This offer seems to be only for players who buy the pack on Arena, as we haven’t heard anything regarding the physical card set.

You will get 50 booster card packs in the game from the upcoming set, one Chandra Awakened Inferno card, a card style for the Chandra Awakened Inferno card, and a unique Core Set 2020 card sleeve that you get as soon as you purchase the bundle.

The entire Magic Core Set 2020 pre-order bundle is priced at $49.99, which is steep, but you do get a lot of goodies worth a whole lot more than that price in exchange. You can only buy it once and it will only be available for a limited time so act fast.

New Store Additions

As we’ve come to expect with each new patch, there are some new additions to the in-game store for players to purchase. There aren’t as many new items this month as in previous months, but there are still several options to catch player’s interest. There are new Planeswalker glass card styles that you can buy in the store as part of the War of the Spark Chronicles limited time event.

Here are the following new glass card styles available for purchase along with the required gold:

  • Nicol Bolas, Dragon-God: 600 Gems
  • Chandra, Fire Artisan: 500 Gems
  • Domri, Anarch of Bolas: 500 Gems
  • Nissa, Who Shakes the World: 500 Gems
  • Karn, the Great Creator: 500 Gems
  • Kiora, Behemoth Beckoner: 2000 Gold
  • Saheeli, Sublime Artificer: 2000 Gold
  • Kaya, Bane of the Dead: 2000 Gold

What’s Leaving the Store Soon

In addition to the new glass card styles in the in-game store, there are some items that are leaving the store soon, too. As such, we recommend that you act fast if you’re interested in any of these items as they will be gone from the store shortly for good.

Here are the bundles and items that are leaving soon, along with the date when they leave:

  • Mono-colored Draft Bundles – These bundles will be removed with the July 2nd, 2019 game update.
  • Gatewatch’s Triumph Bundle – This will be removed with the July 2nd, 2019 game update.
  • Store Glass Styles – These will be removed from the Store interface with July 2nd, 2019 game update. All Event and Store Glass Styles will be found in the Deck Builder with the next release.

All Bug Fixes

Like with all updates, this update has a bunch of bug fixes that will enhance the gameplay for users. Using God-Eternal Kefnet’s triggered ability to select a split card but then choose to not cast the card will no longer cause the game to stall for a period of time.

Users who are playing on the Turkish version of Windows will no longer receive an error regarding assets detected. Using Dauntless Bodyguard’s ability will now properly give indestructibility to a Planeswalker as long as it’s under the right conditions. Last but not least, the looping static sound for some users is fixed.
