Wizards of the Coast has announced that Magic: The Gathering Arena has a momentous achievement. It will soon no longer be in the open beta early access format. The official release date for MTG Arena has been revealed, and the shocking part is when it is finally happening.

MTG Arena Release Date Unveiled

The official release for the full release of MTG Arena is happening on September 26, 2019. That’s just a few weeks away as we just entered into September. If that release date sounds familiar, it should as it also marks the release of an equally important piece of content for the digital version of the card game.

The upcoming fall expansion Throne of Eldraine will be making its long-awaited release at the same time that MTG Arena comes out of the open beta format. So, that day is marked to be a significant occasion for the game in multiple ways as players will be able to enjoy the entire game fully.

With the release date announcement, also comes the news that the game has seen over a billion matches played since the game first came out of beta. That is an insane number of matches and the hours spent in matches has to be an equally crazy amount.

It makes sense that the release date is happening so soon since the game is rewarding players who log in before the release date of Throne of Eldraine with some epic rewards. These rewards include cards, and more plus some major changes are happening for the Mastery System to mean that all players will get more rewards that way.

Also, all players who joined the game during the open beta phase will receive extra goodies at the launch later this month in celebration of the full release. All players will get an exclusive avatar and a nice card back to show off to newcomers that you were in it from the beginning.

Of course, if you haven’t jumped in and checked out the game in open beta, you are still able to do so and enjoy all of the prizes that will be given out on September 26. There will be some new battlefields that will be released then, too, that brings the high fantasy of the world of Eldraine to matches.

New Eldraine Courtside Brawl Limited-Time Event Mode Now Available

MTG Throne of Eldraine All That Glitters

If that wasn’t enough to encourage new and old players to log in before the release of the new expansion, there is even more reason with the new event mode. This week, there is the latest limited-time mode Eldraine Courtside Brawl for players to check out.

It is going on now until Monday, September 9. It is a short time, but some amazing things are happening in this mode that will give players a preview of what’s to come.

The new Brawl mode is available for players to check out. If you didn’t already know, Brawl is essentially the exclusive Commander mode for players to use in MTG Arena alone. It is a nice twist on the mode that brings the epic multiplayer experience of Commander from the tabletop and Magic Online versions.

This particular event provides a Brawl experience that is unique in its way. It provides players with the first-ever sneak peek of what’s to come with the release of Throne of Eldraine. Players will be able to check out and play just some of the cards from the set weeks before they release.

That alone is a pretty impressive feat and a great way to start getting some practical experience with the set before others can. But there is also another benefit of the MTG Arena Eldraine Courtside Brawl. Players who participate will be able to earn cards from the set as well.

Brawl lets players put a twist on the Singleton match format. They can pick a Commander partner, who can be a legendary creature like in normal Commander mode, but with the added ability of also being able to make a planeswalker your partner, too.

Then you’ll be able to add 59 other standard cards that will make up the 60-card deck that you’ll be able to use in the Brawl format. The mythic rare legendary creatures from the upcoming set will enter the field with some epic new entrance animations.

Of course, as the weeks go on, Wizards of the Coast is going to be releasing spoilers for the cards in the upcoming set beyond what is available in the limited time Brawl mode. That already began this week with several cards being revealed for the first time including the featured planeswalker Oko.

We don’t have too much longer to wait for both the full release of MTG Arena as well as the fall expansion Throne of Eldraine. Both are scheduled to happen at the same time on Thursday, September 26.
