Motorola Announces Moto G200 Smartphone Perfect for Mobile Gaming
Motorola has just announced the Moto G200, a humongous smartphone with some of the best specs money can buy and, at around $540, it won’t cost you an arm and a leg! We’re talking premium, flagship hardware for a fraction of the price — a rare combination, no doubt. Motorola isn’t pulling any punches. We’re glad that they’re throwing down the gauntlet and challenging bigger brands in ways no one expected. And, well, such a beastly spec sheet will almost certainly result in a spectacular gaming experience as well.
So, if you’re into mobile gaming and are in the market for a new smartphone, the Moto G200 should be at the top of your list of priorities!
As Spec’d Out As Possible
At the front, we’re getting a 6.8” IPS high refresh rate display operating at 144Hz. Some corners had to have been cut (hence the absence of any AMOLED tech), but top-notch IPS panels are nothing to scoff at and are still sufficiently vibrant and beautiful to look at.
The Moto G200 will sport 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM with either 128GB or 256GB of UFC 3.1 flash storage. You’ll be able to top up its 5,000mAh battery at up to 33W, and the whole device is IP52 certified, too — a nice addition that’ll come in clutch if you happen to be caught by a sudden rainshower!
Its back is plastic. There’s no wireless charging, but these are minor drawbacks and are justifiable given its price tag. Plus, polycarbonate casings have come a long way. The Moto G200 will also sport a seriously capable camera system, with a 108MP main shooter (f/1.9) and a 13MP ultra-wide (f/2.2). There’s also a 16MP front-facing camera that should be more than sufficient for the occasional selfie.
However, the SoC at its core is what’s most interesting: Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 Plus, a 5G chipset manufactured on a 5nm node. It packs eight Kryo 680 cores, one of which runs at a whopping 2.99Ghz. The Adreno 660 GPU will chew through any mobile game you might throw its way, and that’ll remain the case for many years to come. We’re talking about the absolute best Android chipset on the market. The fact that we’ll soon be able to purchase it for less than $600 is simply astounding.
The Moto G200 will first go on sale in Europe and Latin America, with a U.S. release happening further down the line, probably in Q1 2022. It supposedly won’t run as hot as its predecessor, but that’s only hearsay at this point. In any case, we’ll await real-world benchmarks before drawing any conclusions.
