Mortal Kombat 11 Nightwolf DLC Teased for Release Soon

by in Fighting Game News | Jul, 1st 2019

NetherRealms is officially teasing the release of Mortal Kombat 11 Nightwolf DLC very soon. This is not a huge surprise since the first post-launch paid DLC character Shang Tsung just released on the game recently. Because of that, it’s high time for the studio to reveal who the next fighter will be.

To be clear, we already knew that Mortal Kombat 11 Nightwolf was coming to the game as one of the DLC fighters alongside a few other characters. The thing is, we don’t know in what order the fighters will appear, though. The order of release could be absolutely anything.

After all, the three confirmed characters thus far were confirmed officially basically at the same time. That leaves it up in the air which character will be released first. But a series of teases, as well as data that’s been mined by curious players, show that Nightwolf will likely be the next DLC fighter to release.

Nightwolf DLC Teased

After promising to reveal news about the popular fighting game’s upcoming DLC characters, creative director and co-creator of the series Ed Boon from NetherRealm Studios shared a teaser shot of what absolutely looks to be Nightwolf on Twitter.

Boon posted the shot with the simple caption: “And now a taste of things to ‘kome’…” In the dimly lit picture, we can see Scorpion far away who is blurred out and is going up against someone. The person who is his opponent is blocked for the most part in the picture.

What we can see, though, is an axe and what looks to be Native American garb. The whole style and outfit of the character makes it clear that this without a doubt the Mortal Kombat 11 version of Nightwolf. For Boon to be teasing the character first, hints at his release being the first of the four.

But the teases for the character don’t stop there. A popular data miner Thethiny took a look at the most recent patch for the game on PC and found some interesting details hiding within the data of the game. There are several mentions of Nightwolf, specifically, including his character intro, outro, assists in the Towers, and many more.

Interestingly enough, there is no mention of any of the other three DLC fighters within the data of the game. This certainly makes it seem like NetherRealm Studios is adding Nightwolf’s information into the game in hopes of releasing him very soon.

It only helps that the first released DLC character Shang Tsung had teases in this same way. Just before the release of the character, data miners were able to find data and references to the character in updates leading up to the character’s release.

Who Are the Other DLC Fighters?

It is likely that we shall get confirmation of the official Mortal Kombat 11 Nightwolf soon. In the meantime, we have three other characters that still don’t have teases yet. Beyond Nightwolf, the other two confirmed DLC characters are fellow series veteran Sindel and special guest character Spawn.

Beyond that, there are three other DLC characters that will be joining the game as part of the Kombat Pack. We don’t know who those three DLC characters will be just yet but there are plenty of teases and hints at who they might be. We know that one of them is another veteran or original character while the other two will be guest characters from another property.

The biggest theory within the community right now is that the characters will be Sheeva as a series veteran character, Joker from DC Comics, and Ash Williams from the Evil Dead series. It still remains to be seen if this is going to be the case as we will have to wait and see in the near future.

Until then, we have the release of Mortal Kombat 11 Nightwolf to look forward to. For reference, Shang Tsung recently released on June 18 for all available platforms. That was fairly recent but it is possible that we could be getting a new DLC character every month or so.

As such, we expect the Nightwolf DLC release to in either July or August. Be sure to stay tuned here for the official announcement in the near future.
