Mortal Kombat 11 Connection Issues Appear After Recent Update
There are some rampant Mortal Kombat 11 connection issues that have appeared after the launch of the most recent update. These issues range from annoying lag to straight up disconnections from the match and many more. These issues are causing frustration for gamers.
The worst part is it’s affecting a huge portion of the game audience on any range of platforms for the game. This is very surprising for a game that hasn’t faced any other connection issues in its online matches since it launched a couple of months ago in April 2019.
For the most part, players in the community have been happy with how well the game is online with little to no input lag and very few disconnections, if ever, which is an accomplishment for an online game at launch in 2019. But the latest update for the game has taken players by surprise.
Mortal Kombat 11 Disconnection Issues
The biggest issue right now is the lag during matches. The Mortal Kombat 11 connection issues will result in the disconnect symbol popping up at the bottom of the screen for players during an online match when this wouldn’t happen to them before.
Now, you could easily chalk this up to just having some internet issues on the player’s end, but that isn’t the case. Players around the world and on all of the available platforms are experiencing these problems and they tie back to the most recent patch for Mortal Kombat 11.
Before you get into an online match, the game will let you know what your connection is like at the moment with green meaning you have the best rating and are probably good to go. Players even with a green connection that they have the best possible one are still dealing with these Mortal Kombat 11 connection issues.
NetherRealm Studios’ Response
Thankfully, developer NetherRealm Studios is aware of this problem and has announced that it is working on a solution for it. The studio posted an official statement regarding the lag problems and more on the sub-Reddit for the game.
Interestingly enough, the developer starts out their statement by noting that it has already checked out all of the online functionality for the game on its end since the most recent patch and everything seems to be “running normally.”
The one issue that the developers did notice while looking into online problems is that the disconnect icon is appearing in online matches much more often than it should be. NetherRealm Studios acknowledged that the icon will even appear during online matches that are supposed to be stable.
The developer is working on fixing the Mortal Kombat 11 connection issues soon and players will need to sit tight until then. Oddly enough, due to the results that the developer gathered, the Pro Kompetition’s Online North America East is still scheduled for tomorrow, June 8.
It is a little surprising that the competition won’t be rescheduled for another time, but it is likely that NetherRealm Studios doesn’t believe that there is enough of a problem to cause issues during the competition.
Players Aren’t Happy With the Developer’s Response
If you take a look at the comments of the players on the Reddit post, though, you will find that they are equally confused about this whole situation as we are. Many are even wondering if the developer plays its own game because the Mortal Kombat 11 connection issues are much more than just an icon appearing.
Many players in the comments are claiming that their online matches are slowing to a crawl when these lag issues happen, that they are getting constantly disconnected from features like Towers of Time, and much more.
This is affecting players who are trying to get in a good ranked match but are forced to play with those with terrible pings, but they aren’t always able to decline the match beforehand. There are also PC players who note that the update made the game completely “unplayable” for them.
The list of Mortal Kombat 11 connection issues go on and on if you just read the replies to the official statement from the developer, with many players simply wishing it had just said that they are sorry for any inconvenience and that it is working on a solution to these problems.
To players, that would be better than what seems like completely disregarding their rampant issues that are plaguing users online and saying that the developer can’t find any of those problems minus an icon appearing when it shouldn’t.
We aren’t sure if this is the developer trying to lighten the situation and help players feel more reassured that the issue is being worked on or if NetherRealm really is completely oblivious of the issues that players are dealing with at this time within the online portion of the game.
Regardless of whichever is the truth behind the statement, it would have been better for the studio to be more open and straightforward than this. Acknowledge the problem, even be honest if it doesn’t have the solution to what’s going on just yet, and promise to fix it as soon as possible.
That would have at least tied players over in the meantime. These problems all began with the most recent patch that dropped earlier this week on Tuesday, June 4, 2019. Ever since the game updated to that version, players have been dealing with these connection and lag issues.
Only time will tell how long it will take for NetherRealm Studios will fix these problems for players, but it does raise some concerns for professional competitions like this weekend’s North America East. Here’s hoping that the problems are fixed soon.
