New Fortnite Rift Beacon in the Desert Hints at Moisty Mire Return
Season X, or 10 depending on what you want to call it, of Fortnite battle royale continues to expand and change as time goes on. We see almost weekly changes to the game’s map and island these days as Epic Games is choosing to dole out changes gradually rather than all at once.
Well, it looks like we have an idea of what the next major change for the game is going to be. This week, players began noticing that a new rift beacon has appeared on the island and this, it can be found in the desert biome in the southeastern portion of the island.
Where and What the Rift Beacon Is
For those who don’t know, the rift beacon is an object that appears in an area and is the reason that so many places are changing up this season. For instance, a rift beacon appeared in Neo Tilted previously and changed the area to what it is now.
As such, there is reason to believe that this new rift beacon is signaling the return of something in the desert area. The question is, of course, what will be coming there? Well, previous rift beacons have either changed an area to something new or reverted it back to an old location with a twist.
Interestingly enough, the desert biome in the southeast with Paradise Palms wasn’t always there even if it certainly feels like it at this point in the game’s history. Paradise Palms and the desert was introduced in season five when the game removed the not very popular Moisty Mire zone.
It was a welcome change at the time and, since then, the desert area has become a major staple in the game. But that could be changing with this new rift beacon appearing. The exact location of the rift beacon is the most telling part of what could be on the way for the game.
It is found at the unnamed location of Truck n Oasis, which is a large truck stop that players can find just southwest-ish of the named location of Paradise Palms. With this being the location of the rift beacon and not Paradise Palms, it brings up an interesting point.
There are two possibilities behind the upcoming rift beacon. The first is that it will change up the entire desert area, which does seem to be the unlikely case since it isn’t at Paradise Palms instead. The other option is that it will only change the truck stop and surrounding areas.
This is the more likely scenario that will happen soon, which would mean that Paradise Palms and the rest of the desert could be staying. From there, we can determine what the truck stop will be changing to. With this, there are a couple of potential options as well.
Like we mentioned before, the previous beacons have brought new areas or returning areas. In the case of Neo Tilted, it became the new Tilted Town area. For Mega Mall, it returned to its old location of Retail Row but with an interesting twist to it in the form of the fiend hordes.
What the Truck Stop Could Change to
Lastly, the most recent rift caused an explosion site where some new glitched consumable items can be found. With those in mind, it’s likely that one of two things will happen with the truck stop. This could be a completely changed area or the return of Moisty Mire.
Starting with the first, the truck stop could simply change into something we’ve never seen before. To be honest, though, we do think that this is the less likely of the two options. On the other hand, the area returning to a form of Moisty Mire does make sense since it’s been gone for so long.
Of course, the return of Moisty Mire would have to come with some unique change to it. Hopefully, it would be one that would make the area more interesting because it is one of the few areas we haven’t seen return that players didn’t care all that much for.
This could mean that Paradise Palms and Moisty Mire would exist right next to one another, offering players yet another named location to visit in the game for season 10. As of right now, though, we will just have to wait and see. Stay tuned as the change is likely to happen with next week’s patch.
