Modern Warfare and Warzone Season 4 Release Date Delayed

Activision has revealed that the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Season 4 release date has been delayed officially to an unknown date. This sudden decision not only affects Modern Warfare players on PS4, Xbox One, and PC, but it also affects the Call of Duty: Warzone players as well.

Modern Warfare Season 4 Release Date Delayed

The Modern Warfare Season 4 release date delay announcement was made on the official Call of Duty Twitter account. A message was provided on the account with no other comments besides what the message itself read on social media.

It noted that Activision is looking forward to the release of the fourth season for Modern Warfare and Warzone alike along with the players, but now just isn’t the right time for that season to launch. Because of this, the launch of the new season is being set back to a later date.

At this time, we have no idea what that new release date will be for Season 4, but we do know that the delay has likely nothing to do with the actual development of it. This is emphasized in the final part of the message on the Call of Duty account that reveals its support for what is happening right now.

“Right now it’s time for those speaking up for equality, justice, change to be seen and heard,” Activision stated on the Twitter account. “We stand alongside you.”

Delay Made in Support of Current Movement

While this might seem vague, it is an indirect reference and support message for the protestors in the United States right now who are battling the racial injustices that have gone on for too long. This was spurred on by the recent unjust murder of George Floyd by a police officer.

Since then, there are many major cities and other smaller ones around the country that have been holding protests to spread the movement and bring about actual change in society. Activision acknowledged that this is happening right now and is much more important than the new season.

Because of this, it is ensuring that the focus is more on the Black Lives Matter movement and less on what is next for Modern Warfare and Warzone. Though the message was a bit indirect, it is clear that now isn’t the right time for a new season of those two games to begin.

Instead, the new Modern Warfare Season 4 release date is currently unknown. This decision was a quick one and came right as the new season was just about to begin this week. Had this decision not been made, the fourth season would have started on June 3.

What We Know Currently About Season 4

But instead, we currently don’t know when exactly the new season will have its start in Modern Warfare and Warzone. If we were to guess, we will likely see the season start still this month in June, but we could see it also be pushed back to the beginning of July.

That said, players have been waiting for a while now for the fourth of Modern Warfare, so it makes sense to have the wait only be for a little while to show support for everything that is going on currently. As such, we do predict that the new season will begin in the next couple of weeks still.

As far as we know, the new season was going to offer up some new game modes for players to check out plus the new maps as you would expect from a new season. Most of the information that we have currently, though, is solely rumors and leaks about Season 4 rather than confirmed details.

Because of this, it is hard to say what exactly Season 4 will be all about other than the one confirmed detail that Activision has revealed. The Modern Warfare series fan-favorite character, Captain Price, will be the star of the upcoming battle pass and be the latest Operator that you can get.

One of the most popular characters in the entire series and a returning fan favorite in the 2019 reboot of the sub-series, players will finally have the chance to play as Price in the online multiplayer section of the game. Also, this means that you can play as him in Warzone as well.

Activision Isn’t the Only Gaming Company to Do This

But we will have to wait a little longer for that to happen. In the same announcement of the Season 4 delay, Activision also revealed that the spin-off game Call of Duty Mobile is affected by this decision as well. It was set to start its seventh season soon but that has also been delayed.

Also, both Modern Warfare and Call of Duty Mobile’s new seasons are far from the only video games and content to be affected by the growing protests around the nation. Sony was one of the first gaming companies to respond in support and delay something to prove that message.

It wasn’t even a full week ago that Sony revealed that the long-awaited PS5 reveal event would happen this week and it has since been delayed for a time to focus on the important events happening right now. But when that event finally does happen, we could see some announcements for the Call of Duty series.

After all, May came and went without any news regarding the next mainline Call of Duty game even though that is typically when a new one is announced each year. And given the deals that Sony and Activision have had in the last couple of years, they may be partnering together for the reveal of the 2020 game at the PS5 event.

But for now, we will just have to wait and see. Stay tuned for any announcements regarding that new Call of Duty game and when we find out the new release date for Modern Warfare and Warzone Season 4.
