New CDL Pro Skins, Slide Canceling, More – Call of Duty News Update 1/22/2020
Welcome back to another edition of CoD news update! Today, we’ve got a look at the newly dropped CDL pro skins, an update on the Modern Warfare slide cancel glitch staying around for the opening weekend, and a look at an awkward promoted Scump tweet.
The action is only heating up ahead of the start of the season, so let’s dive on in.
New CDL Pro Skins
Our first stop of the day takes us in-game to the item shop. Infinity Ward has finally released the new CDL pro skins just days before the start of the new season.
The new items, first shown on a now-deleted tweet on the CoD Leagues Twitter account, include in-game camos, watches, icons, and other items showing off a player’s support for their favorite team.
The items look pretty good, save for the camos, which look a bit off for some teams. Questions remain as to what took so long for them to get released, with the season starting soon.
Slide Cancel Stays in Modern Warfare
While Infinity Ward has been grinding away at creating in-game skins for the CDL teams, they seem to have pushed aside focus on fixing prominent problems in the game.
According to a tweet from Call of Duty News, Infinity Ward will not include a patch for the frustrating bug in this weekend’s patch. The cited that they need to test it more. It means that pro play have to play with the problem for the first week of the season.
That Trello post has since updated confirming the bug fix is coming in a future update that will address sliding, which causes a “standard fire delay” for players.
The news is frustrating for pros and casual players alike. The bug has had a significant impact on competitive scrims over the past several weeks. It’s not the only major bug, either. There was another one uncovered on FormaL’s stream showing players moonwalking away from a fight faster.
With so much money invested into the league, many have called on Infinity Ward to prioritize fixing game-breaking bugs over creating new content and cosmetics. Some even called on Activision to come down hard on them for their failure to act on time.
Scump’s Tweet
Our last stop of the day takes us over to Scump’s Twitter, where a clip from his stream showing issues with the respawn system somehow got promoted across the platform.

It’s unclear if he promoted it intentionally or if it was paid for by a CoD competitor. But, it’s an embarrassing gaff to have a major pro’s clip of something wrong with the game get pushed all over the place.
We’ll keep you updated as the situation around the tweet develops.
That’s all the news we have for today, everyone, thanks for sticking with us. We’ll be back next time with more exciting CoD news, so stay tuned.
