Modern Warfare Missing DLC Bug Fix Is Coming Soon: Here’s What to Do for Now

by in Call of Duty | Feb, 12th 2020

UPDATE: According to Infinity Ward an official fix is now rolling out across all platforms.

Like with many other launches and new seasons, the launch of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Season 2 has a few issues that players are now dealing with. These problems are expected with a new season and a ton of new content, but the latest issue is an annoying one regardless.

Players Are Encountering Modern Warfare Missing DLC Bug

Since downloading and installing the update 1.14 on PS4, Xbox One, and PC yesterday, some players are dealing with a new Modern Warfare missing DLC bug that is plaguing a group of players. This is a frustrating bug that, essentially, notes that the player is, well missing some crucial DLC in their game.

While this normally wouldn’t be a problem as you would be able to access the other modes and the like without the DLC, it is something that is preventing players from accessing various modes. As such, it is a game-breaking bug as it locks a crucial part of the game for the time being.

Reddit user DB9836 posted about their issue on the official sub-Reddit page after the release of the update, along with a screenshot of their problem. In the screenshot, we can see the Modern Warfare missing DLC error appearing for the player.

It states that the player is “missing one or more multiplayer DLC packs.” It then recommends that the player download and install those recommended packs to access the multiplayer portion of the game that they were trying to access in the screenshot.

Just a glance across Reddit and other social media sites reveal that this user is far from the only one having this problem. There are quite a few similar posts that also have the same issue. What’s worse is that the Reddit user has the multiplayer pack installed on their game and system.

As such, the Modern Warfare missing DLC problem is one that shouldn’t exist unless, for some odd reason, the DLC pack gets corrupted after updating the game. While this doesn’t seem to be nearly as bad as the most recent game-breaking bug where players got warned of losing their stats, it is still a problematic one, nonetheless.

Missing DLC Bug Fix Is Coming Soon

Thankfully, there is a fix on the way for this bug as you read this. The Infinity Ward senior communications manager Ashton Williams, or ashtonisVULCAN_IW on Reddit, posted a response that at least addresses this widespread problem that players are having.

Williams noted that Infinity Ward “is working on a fix for this as we speak.” She then apologized for the problem that the players are having with the supposed missing DLC. Unfortunately, there is no telling at this time when the actual fix for this bug will happen.

We presume that it will come in the form of a quick hot fix that will hopefully release this week. It has to do with if any other major issues came from the Season 2 release and how prioritized this bug is. We expect that it is a top priority for the developer.

As for why this Modern Warfare missing DLC bug is happening, that is likely related to the data released in the 1.14 update for Season 2. Similar issues occurred in the past with new content updates, some of which were worse than this.

Recently, players couldn’t access the game due to an error that recommended the player choose to lose all their stats if they wanted to play possibly. Though this didn’t reportedly happen entirely to anyone who selected it.

What to Do About the Bug for Now

While we wait for a fix, you can try a few different methods to relieve the Modern Warfare missing DLC error. Many of these methods come from various Reddit users, so there is no guarantee that they will work at all or for everyone affected.

One thing that you can do is see if there are any actual missing DLC packs that you might not have in the game currently. Head to the game store of your platform and look for the game there. From there, navigate to all the add-ons that you can find.

Make sure that you have all of them installed and install any that you are currently missing. After that, reinstall all the multiplayer packs that you own for the game currently.

If the game still isn’t letting you access the multiplayer portion, the next possibility is reinstalling the game entirely. This is a worst-case scenario as we know that many players have less than great internet or data caps, so don’t worry about that if you do.

Possibly, this could fix the problem, but we wouldn’t be surprised if it doesn’t. In that case, you will probably have to wait until there is an actual fix for this issue directly from Infinity Ward. Hopefully, it doesn’t take long with Season 2 now out.

In Season 2, there is the standard battle pass as you would expect plus quite a few multiplayer maps to play on and some new game modes to check out. Hopefully, this problem gets addressed soon so players can start checking out all the new Season 2 content.
